Well this is funny don't ya think? I've had this journal since I was a first year and yet only now five years later when I'm a quarter into my Sixth Year here have I started to write in this thing.........very funny (like how I wrote down the dots in the book to add comedic effect?) but well honestly I'm surprised I didn't start doing this sooner.
OH! How impolite of me to not introduce myself, *clears throat* I am Fredrick Hughes and I am a part of he very prestigious house of..........Hufflepuff , now I know what you're thinking "Hufflepuff!? but they're just a bunch of boring hogwashers who are WAY into the Earth and farming!" There's no shame in thinking that after all it's what I was thinking when I got sorted into this house back at the start of my first year ; back in first year every single kid always was hoping to be sorted into Gryffindor, not that I blame them, Gryffindor was the house of Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Hermione Weasley, and Nevin Longbottom. Hufflepuff? What are we known for? We're known for the fact that ONE of our house: Cedric Diggory was one of the first people to meet Voldemort when he was reborn and then was promptly killed by Peter Pettigrew.
Now, from everything I just said you'd think that I'm disappointed and sad that I'm in Hufflepuff but there you'd be wrong. I love my house and am proud of our accomplishments (that sadly go unnoticed) like how we matched Gryffindor's numbers in the amount of students who stayed and defended Hogwarts from Voldemort and his army of death eaters and......other things, how we have the LOWEST amount of dark wizards to come out of a house in Hogwarts. I bet you're wondering: "Why doesn't Hufflepuff ever boast about this?" Well the thing is: why would we? I mean why does it matter if my house has produced the fewest dark wizards in Hogwarts or matched the number of students with Gryffindor who stayed to fight against Voldermort? It doesn't, what does matter though is NOW, this moment, right now is where we should be focused on. Right now where I live and breathe is the time I should be focused on our work and time here.
Now I think that's enough deep thinking for today back to my writing my normal stupid stuff. Out of everyone I know you'd be surprised to know that I really only have one friend that's also in Hufflepuff: Anastasia Bristol, she's been my friend since we were both first years, she's very.........energetic? I don't really know how to put how she is but regardless she's one of my closest friends and I've asked her for advice more items than I can count; the rest of my friends though are all in different houses, let's list them all: Felix King, he's in Gryffindor House along with Arabella Price, my other friend in that house. Both of them are.......well.....pretty loud and obnoxious at times, Felix though? He's so bloody flirty, he'll flirt with anything that even moves, he's even flirted with me before! ME! And he's not even attracted to guys! Ok ok that's enough about those two. Next we have Thomas Dixon and Beatrix Lloyd, they're in Slytherin House. Now I know what you're thinking "Oh they're in Slytherin, they must be Arseholes!" No not really in fact Thomas is pretty nice.......and quiet, mild mannered but definitely paying attention intently, Beatrix on the other hand is......manipulative and devious, not in a bad way but she still is like that. Finally we have Hugo Matthews and Millie Harvey, they're in Ravenclaw and are.........argumentative.......especially Hugo (he's bloody annoying at times) but both of them are the smartest people I've ever seen, Millie can solve any type of problem in School......Any type!
Well it's nearing Midnight and I'm gonna regret writing in this bloody thing in the morning but hey I'll still do it tomorrow.
Anyways....Signing off
-Fredrick Hughes
