Back Of Haters
By: Elliot Pierce-Kristina Johnston-Carr

If you've ever been bullied let me tell you something.
It's not your fault!

All my life I've been told to shut up, and have been beaten down,
Hell people have done messed up shit to me,
But through it all I stood tall, and tried to block them out, tired to be the bigger man,
'Cause they weren't worth it.

   They aren't worth the tears,
They aren't worth the fears,
They aren't worth the self doubt,
They aren't worth the bleeding arms,
They aren't worth the skipped meals,
They aren't worth the nightmares,
They aren't worth the self inflicted wounds mentally and physically.

From one survivor of bulling to the next,
It's not worth worrying about the haters,
'Cause what about the lovers?
Their ARE people who love you no matter who you are,
Family,
Friends,
Crushes,
Secret admirers,
Etc.

So why do we just focus on the
haters so much?
Why do we give them the control?
Why do we let them verbally beat us down and not stand up to are verbal abuser/s?

   We are stronger than them,
We are kinder than them,
We are the bigger person,
'Cause we don't beat people down just to feel in control,
'Cause the only thing you can truly have control of is yourself,
No one else,
And no one else has control over you either.

Beating someone up for having a different or out of style hair cut, or for being shy, or for being anything but heterosexual, or cisgender,
Is NOT cool,
It won't get you anywhere in life so why even in the first place,
After grade, junior high, and high school being all tough and on top won't get you anything,
Sept for living on the streets without friends,
Wife,
Or kids,
Does it still seem worth it?
Getting revenge or beating up someone you don't like?

To me it doesn't,
I want to have a future,
I want to be loved and adored,
Not being lonely,
Not being hated,
Not being feared.

So why do you?
All the bullies out there,
Why!?
Why is it so worth it all?
'Cause I just don't see it,
I don't see what could be so fun, or cool about hurting someone that could already being beaten at home.
It just doesn't seem right to me,
So why does it to you?

Beaten down people listen closely.

A wise man once asked me "If someone throws a rock do you catch it or dodge,"
You dodge,
It was a metaphor,
The rock being others problems and if you catch it those problems become yours as well,
So if someone throws are rock at you dodge,
'Cause everyone is always going to have something mean to say,
So just take a deep breath and say,
"I'm worth my time but they aren't."

So remember are all the mean words said to you everyday "you're not a victim you're a survivor."
