Lydia sighed as she took off her glasses and set her laptop down onto the bed beside her. The history paper she needed to finish by Wednesday was killing her. She looked over at the clock on her bedside table and sighed when she saw what time it was, 11:34 p.m. She needed to go to sleep soon. After all, it was a school night and the idea of walking into class the next morning looking like a zombie wasn't very appealing to her.

She was pulling a hoodie over her head while exiting her bathroom when she heard a quiet tapping coming from her bedroom. The sound of tapping continued and amplified as she walked into her room. Wondering where the noise was coming from she looked around until she spotted small pebbles being thrown at her window. She walked towards it and as she looked down she saw the flash of a flannel and a quiff of chestnut hair that belonged to none other than her best friend, Stiles Stilinski.

Their friendship began in their sophomore year when they were put together for a science project. They quickly became friends by bonding over their interest in science and love for books. Since then, they have been inseparable and are now seniors in high school.

"Stiles! What the hell are you doing at my house right now?! It's almost 12 o'clock!" Lydia whisper-yelled to him from her window.

"I know," Stiles said with a sheepish grin. "I couldn't fall asleep."

Lydia nodded understandingly. "So you decided to come to my house and bother me instead?" She said teasingly.

"Of course," Stiles said. "You know I love spending time with you whenever I can even if it's in the late hours of the evening."

Lydia couldn't help blushing at his comment. She knew he had said it in a friendly way but deep down she kind of wanted him to say it in a way that suggested that they could be more than just friends. Lydia would never admit it but she knew she had fallen in love with this sarcastic and adorable dork, whose ADHD constantly kept him awake at night. She loved spending time with him as well, even if it was late at night and the need for sleep practically consumed her. Whenever she was with him, she instantly felt happy.

"Come out Lydia, I need to show you something amazing," Stiles said.

With a grin on her face, Lydia slipped on her shoes before climbing out of her window. Moments like this made Lydia very grateful that she had a first-floor bedroom. When she reached the ground she saw Stiles was holding his bike so she grabbed her blue bike that was leaning against one of the walls of her house thinking they would probably be biking somewhere.

"So, where are you taking me on this fine night Mr. Stilinski?" Lydia questioned him as they walked their bikes down her driveway.

"Well, Ms. Martin I am going to take you on an adventure," Stiles responded excitedly. "Come on, follow me," he said as he mounted his bike and started to peddle down the street.

Lydia quickly climbed onto her bike and followed him as they rode down the streets of the small town of Beacon Hills. The roads were dark with only the occasional street lamp providing a dim light. A cool breeze brushed through them causing Lydia's hair to flow behind her as they peddled through the city. Both of them unable to help the smiles that appeared on their faces while enjoying each other's company as they biked in silence. After a few minutes, they reached the entrance to the forest in the heart of town.

"Okay. We're here," Stiles said, slightly out of breath from biking.

"You woke me up in the middle of the night to take me to the forest?! This better not become a daily occurrence,"

"Trust me. It'll be worth it when I show you the great spot I found inside."

"We have to go inside?! Are you sure it's even safe in there?"

"Well, yeah we have to go inside. Unless you want to keep staring at the entrance of a trail. Don't worry, it's perfectly safe in there... I think."

"'You think'?!"

"Come on Lyds. I'm sure it's going to be fine," Stiles said while holding his hand out for her to take.

Lydia smiled when he called her "Lyds". It was the nickname he had for her and it was reserved specifically for his use and his use only. She grabbed his hand and their fingers laced together perfectly as if their hands were meant to be held together. He began to lead her into the forest. They used the flashlights on their phones to guide them as they walked down the trail of the dark forest. Soon Stiles began to lead them off the trail and they reached a clearing in between the trees.

"Is it really a good idea to be this deep into the forest?" Lydia asked with a worried voice.

"It's fine," Stiles assured her and gripped her hand a bit tighter from his excitement. "Plus, you've come this far already, don't you want to see the amazing thing I wanted to show you? I promise it will be worth it."

Lydia slowly nodded her head and reluctantly allowed Stiles to lead her into the clearing. It was a secluded part of the forest covered in green grass that was surrounded by tall pine trees. The area was on a cliff that looked over the city so she was able to see all of Beacon Hills at once and the sight took her breath away. She could see every building and the city lights looked amazing from the angle of the cliff. Lydia looked at the view in awe as Stiles stood beside her grinning.

"So what do you think?" Stiles asked her.

"It's absolutely beautiful here Stiles."

"I told you it was worth the trip. And if you think the view in front of you is great, try looking up at the sky."

When Lydia looked up she was met with the sight of a sky full of stars that were smiling down at her. The dark sky was being illuminated by both the light produced by the stars and the light being reflected off of the moon. As she looked up it felt like she was being consumed by the Milky Way and she loved it. It seemed like she could see every single star in the universe from where they were standing.

"It looks even better if you lie down," Stiles whispered to her.

They both laid down on the soft grass and proceeded to look at the beautiful night sky.

"Where did you find this place?" Lydia asked quietly, breaking the silence.

"My mom used to take me here when I was little, we loved coming here. We came here all the time before she died, it was our special spot. I just missed her a bit more tonight. I guess that's why I felt like coming here." Stiles responded and Lydia nodded with understanding.

"I also thought it was time to share this place with someone else," Stiles said.

"Well, thank you for bringing me here and sharing it with me. It's beautiful here," Lydia whispered.

"Yeah, it is. I wanted to take you somewhere that's almost as beautiful as you," Stiles whispered back as he turned to face her.

Lydia blushed at his comment and turned to look at his face as well. They laid there in a comfortable silence as their eyes met, emerald washing over hazel.

"I have something I need to tell you," Lydia said, suddenly feeling shy.

"Yeah?"

"I, uh, I think I like you. Actually, I'm pretty sure I've liked you for a while now."

"Really?"

"Yeah," Lydia whispered while looking down.

"Well, I have something to tell you too," Stiles whispered back as he put two fingers under her chin to lift her face back up to his. "I like you too," Stiles said with a smile that Lydia returned.

"Can I kiss you Lyds?" Stiles asked. Lydia nodded in response and began to lean into him. Their lips finally met and sparks flew all around them. It was a sweet kiss just like the ones you read about in books and see in movies. They smiled at each other as they slowly pulled away.

Afterward, they continued to talk while looking up at the beautiful sky. They shared a few more kisses before biking back to Lydia's house. There, they fell asleep together in her bed while cuddling together. They both had smiles on their faces as they slept and enjoyed the feeling of being in the arms of the person they loved.
