"Karma, look out!" Boom! Boom! Boom!

The movies had it all wrong they made it seem like getting shot was unbearably painful. They made it seem like as you died, your life flashes before your eyes. I beg to differ. After the bullets passed through my body making me jerk back and fall to the ground, I felt nothing. I heard nothing, I saw nothing.

All I could think about was how my story began, when this all set in motion and if I could've prevented this.

I bet you're confused about what's going on but, before I can tell you how I got here and why this has happened to me, I'll have to take you to the beginning. Shits been one messy hell of a ride but

It started like this...

One Year Ago

"Karma! If you don't come and get this little girl I'mma throw her little ass out the window!" Auntie Jay screamed through the phone, almost shattering my eardrum. How she could be louder than the music blasting in the strip is beyond me.

"Auntie you better leave my baby alone. What did she do this time?" I asked going into one of the private rooms that were unoccupied.

"Girl, this child got so much sass...she done scared my man away. Again! I am too old to keep getting a new one Karma! Geez Auntie wants some loving too." Sighing I shake my head at Mya's craziness yet again. This was nothing new, that little girl could be a demon when she wanted to be.

"Okay Auntie, I only have an hour left of my shift and then I'll be on my way."

Sighing, " okay baby, I'll see you soon. Be safe, I love you." She says.

"I will, love you too. See you in an hour, bye."  looking up at the clock behind the pole, I see that I have two more minutes until I have to be up on the stage.

Quickly checking out my makeup and body in the full length mirror, I run out and stand behind the curtains.

"Hey Karma, how has your night been?" One of my favorite guards asked me.

"Damon, you should already know." I smirked at him. In return,  he bites his bottom lip and nods looking me up and down causing my smirk to turn into a low chuckle.

Damon is one fine piece of tall, dark and chocolate. Scanning his profile, I nearly melted at the sight of his charcole beared, freshly lined curly hair, and broad figure. Oh and his scent could definitely make any female swoon.

Shaking my head out of it's lustful state, I remind myself of the hoe that he truly was. Nope, he ain't getting none of this.

"Aye y'all already know who's coming up next. The baddest chick up in this bitch. The one that makes you want to give into your demons. Give it up for my girl Sin. Sin come do ya thang momma."

"Show time." I whisper before slowly walking on stage where the crowd was screaming my name. My theme song Sin City came on, enchanting me with it's flow. Doing tricks on the pole that left every man stuck in awe. Grinding, flipping, and spinning was my specialty and I was getting thrown thousands for it.

"And you know it,
Yea you know it,
And you know it
Yea, Yea, yea, yea"

Crawling across the stage as the song neared its ending, I had my eyes set on one man in particular.
Rule number one in being a successful dancer, always find the big bucks. Luckily for me, he sat front and center just waiting to throw cash.

My mystery man. He's perpetually wearing a low snapback leaving only his plump pink lips in view. I'd notice that man anywhere. With his gold diamond-encrusted Lion medallion, Rolex attached to his right arm, and cold demeanor, my g string manages to get soaked every time I see him.
