. . .
Peridot was swinging, with her head down on the swing as her parents sit there, not even acknowledging her. She had called a few times, "Mama, Dadda! Play with me!" But they never answered. Not a word close to a response. The breeze was gentle, and the landscape was stunning. There was a few benches from left to right, and trees perfectly lined up with the horizon. The running joy of ecstatic kids to be outside, playing with their friends and even their parents. Some of them asked to play with her, but she politely declined, setting it on her mind that she wanted to be alone. And it sure looked like her parents did.
Soon, she felt a presence behind her. Just as she was about to turn her head, supposing it was her parents, she felt a small finger tapping her shoulder. She was confused at first, but she stayed still. Hoping they would just leave.
"Uh, Hello?" The soft voice called, as they tap her shoulder again.
Peridot turned her head a little, just to see a minority of her face. She couldn't see much, but enough to make a good eye contact with her.. bright blue eyes. They were as blue as the lakes in Greece.
"Uhm, yeah.. H-Hi." Peridot replied slowly, with a small stutter.
"I've seen you here for like.. about twenty minutes just on this swing. I'm alone too, so I was wondering if we could play?" She asked politely, putting her hands behind her back and she sways her body from side to side.
Peridot was hesitant, but she gave her a little smile. "Okay, surely..-- What is your name,?" She asked, turning her head around fully, to see her face.
"Lapis! Lapis Lazuli." She smiled, holding her hand out then giggled. "What's-a-yours?"
"..Peridot. Peridot Greane. I like your name, L-Lazuli." Peridot stuttered, hopping off the swing. Lapis looked dumbfounded that she called her by her last name instead of her first, but she was fine with it. She thought it was cute, and giggled.
"I like yours too!" She jumped, giggling some more.
Peridot laughed, she finally had someone to call her friend. Peridot gently grabbed Lapis' wrist and started to slowly run. Lapis caught on, then started to run as fast as she can, dragging Peridot with her.
"W-Wait, Lazuli!" Peridot shouted, but Lapis ignored. She was laughing and twirling Peridot around.
Peridot tripped on a pointy rock in the ground, and fell. She landed with her arm on Lapis, and Lapis' arm around her. They looked at each other for a short second, then Lapis snorted. They broke out, sharing this moment of laughter.. . .
The next chapter WILL be longer. I just wanted to show you their backstory on how they met.
I hope you enjoyed!
