"Well maybe if you would actually clean, then maybe this wouldn't be such a big deal!" my mom yelled at my dad. They've been fighting like this for months; I'm used to it now.
"And why the hell should I clean? You don't work, I fucking do! All you do is sit around all day while I make a living!" Retorted my father.
"Don't you dare say I do nothing, god dammit! I do just as much work as you do! And don't cuss at me like I'm a damn dog!" Mom yelled back for what seemed like the millionth time this past hour. I ran upstairs to my room slamming the door, like they'd actually notice, but I slammed it anyway.
Sign.
My name is Jamie-Lynn Rose. I'm 16 years old in the 11th grade. I live in Downtown Los Angeles, California. My life's pretty average; friends, but not popular. Somehow most people know about me. My dad's a lawyer so I guess that's why. People see our nice house in a gated community and the Mercedes Benz parked in front and automatically think our family is perfect. Obviously, it's far from that.
My parents got married when they were 25, three years after they met. They were so in love, as all their friends say, but now that's changed completely, I guess. I believe the only reason why they are still together is because of me.
It really sucks because with everyone thinking my family is absolutely perfect, I wish that I could think that too. Or, you know, I wish it actually was true.
My phone vibrated on my desk and I jetted over to it. It was one of my best friends, Sam. Finally, someone to distract me from this madness.
"Yo, Jay, where the hell are you!" She asked curiously.
"What do you mean? I'm home, where else would I be?" I responded.
"I don't know where else, but you should be here at the beach. You know, like we planned!" She yelled.
"Aw man, I forgot." I said looking at the clock. "Look, its only 5:30, so I'm 30 minutes late. I'm on my way."
"You better be! See ya, kiddo." With that she hang up.
I put on my Vans and grabbed my mini backpack. I made my way downstairs and heard silence, finally.
"I'm going to the beach, Mom!" I yelled, hoping she heard.
"Alright, sweetheart! Dinner's in a hour and a half!" she replied, confirming that she did.
I went into the garage and got into my black Range Rover, and I was off.
To the beach I go, away from this hell of a house.

I walked up to my friends. Sam, Linda, Louis, Liam, and Harry were all there.
"Yo, Jay, what's up with ya?" Harry spoke once he spotted me walking up. He ran and picked me up, twirling me around.
"Dude, chill! You act like its been years since we've seen each other." I laughed. He laughed as well, placing me back on the ground. We walked back over to the group.
"Sup guys." I greeted them, earning some "Sup's" and "Hey's".
"So, Christmas break is over now, huh?" Linda spoke up, wrapping her cardigan around her body, as if it was a shield from the light breeze.
"Yeah, it's over now. It went by so quickly." Liam said
"Well, whether we like it or not, fucking school is tomorrow." Louis signed.
"This is gonna be the start of our new semester, and I honestly dont know what to say." Linda said staring at the ocean that was glistening beautifully from the start of the sunset. It looked like the perfect painting.
