I sat upon a rock, watched the boat gliding along so free, so solitary.
For a moment i pictured myself there, face to the wind.
It felt wrong of me to smile. Yet i smiled.
If fate had dealt differently with me, if fate had been altered in some way, i would have been free.
Free from the duties highly expected of me, free from the chains of submission to a man i not love.
For a moment, my fingers hovered over my cheek. Touching the soft sore spots that were yet to heal. As if on impulse my back aches, reminding me of the slashes given to me all because i dared so to look at his eyes, more-so while guests were still present. He took it as a threat, when all i did was plead with his eyes to let me tend to my throbbing wounds, i felt blood sticking to the fabric of the dress, afraid people would notice.
But not once did i wince, chin up, shoulders straight, i offered smiles to the guests, made sure their needs meet.
No one saw the truth in my eyes, the screaming pain that my eyes bleed to be seen. But its for the best i remain dutiful to the man i feared, the man i respected but not love.
Now i sit with a lamp low as i write, listening to his voice rumble as he instructs his valet next door.
It may not be easy, but i pray i will pull through.
My flesh is all but sand that will one day be swept away.
But my heart though shattered, my soul, though bruised, my spirit sows high, untamed. It is my only refuge.
So tonight, i will sleep alone in bed, and dream of my other life, a life that i am not bound to with chains.
Oh i pray it rains......
My name matters not,.. but this is my story.
I know this is not a synopsis.. But i think it gives an idea of what it's going to be about.
