WEDNESDAY MORNING
8:15
Zoe, Carson and I were sitting outside, on the lawn in the school quad, waiting for class to start.
"You know, if you go to London, you could come back with an accent."
I looked up at Carson and smirked.
"I think it takes more than a few weeks for that to happen, Car."
"Hey, you never know."
"Yeah, once I went to California for a few weeks over the summer and I was saying 'dude' when I got back."
I bit my lip to try and keep from laughing at her. Carson laughed at Zoe's innocent expression. How she's an honors student, I'll never know.
"Maybe you're the exception, hun." Carson patted her knee and Zoe smiled with glee. I shook my head and giggled. At least she's easy to please.
"So anyway," I looked over at Carson, "what does your dad think?"
"I don't know. My mom hasn't even mentioned it to him. I think she's scared or something." I picked at the grass next to me.
"Why? It's not like she can't pay for it." Carson replied.
"Money isn't the problem. It's just the whole divorce thing. It's a custody issue or something like that. All I know is that I'll be seriously pissed if my dad messes this up for me." I dug the heel of my shoe into a patch of grass in front of me out of frustration.
"Maybe you should talk to him instead of your mom having to. I mean you said that they're always fighting, right?" Zoe asked.
"Well yeah, but I'm not too fond of him either. I was a complete b*tch to him the other day when he was driving me to school" I went back to the patch of grass and kept digging. "He'd see right through me." I said, looking up at my friends.
"I wish I was one of those deep people who could say some random sh*t and make it sound profound. That would probably help in this situation." Carson said before popping a tomato cherry in her mouth. "I just want to go to England." I whined, kicking the ground.
Zoe finished chewingYou can't help not having a good relationship with him. He'I would have acted the same exact way if my dad had done what he did. But Zo's right. Maybe you should talk to him about it."
"He's probably going to say no because I'm supposed to be spending more time with him this summer. That's the custody agreement."
We were all silent as everybody around us yelled to their friends, and laughed together.
"You know..." Zoe started and Carson and I both looked up at her, "I bet if he thought this would make you like him more, he'd let you go."
"That won't work. He'll see right through me."
"No," Carson said, "I think she's right. Your dad was trying to win you over the other day, wasn't he?"
"Well yeah, but I don't think he's-"
"So then all you have to do is make him think that by letting you go, he'd win you over." I glared at her for interrupting me.
"Oh? And how am I supposed to do that?" I raised my eyebrows at Miss Know-it-All.
"It shouldn't be that hard. Just tell him how much you want to go."
"OH! And do it in person!" Zoe exclaimed.
You have got to be kidding me. It's bad enough that I have to talk to him. Now they want me to have to actually see him too.
When Carson saw the look on my face she put her hand on my shoulder and looked me in the eye.
