Am I too late? [Kuroko no Basuke Fanfic: Kise RyotaxOC]

The confession

Rain fell hard on the ground while  the  leaves rustled because of the strong wind. I don't remember how we got here even the place was a blur in my memory. But one thing was for sure, only those words were crystal clear on my ears. 

A hunched figure of my bestfriend was before me, her magenta hair undone in a messy bun with droplets dropping from lose strands. Her hands placed on her chest, conveying the affection-her feelings- and freeing her passionate emotions. She was so beautiful.

"K-Kise- kun!.....I-I really like you! " 

I was silent for a moment, not knowing what to say next. Not having any idea how to dispel such moment. Telling the truth...would it really save us both? 

"Hanacchi...I already have a girlfriend. " 

Shock and disbelief were evident in her eyes as she looked up, her mouth quivering-from the cold or from the  revelation, no one can say.  So many emotions stormed in her eyes as they get glassy, her petite frame shaking upon the turbulent state of her emotions. 

"Oh...So the rumors were true?" 

[Why do I feel so much regret?]

What was I supposed to say? I don't know so I stayed silent. Not trusting my mouth, i just nodded in confirmation. It was not long before her eyes became lifeless- clear, empty, cold. Bereft of the storm of emotions I witnessed minutes ago. 

A bitter smile. " I understand. I'm sorry for bothering you."

And she was gone, running away. I could look at her back, getting smaller as the distance between us became longer. 

[If I just accepted your love that day, would I be happy now? Would this regret I'm feeling right now be gone?]
