A soft light streamed in through the thin brown curtains, the fourth floor apartment's old window bringing in a draft. A song played through bad phone speakers, and if asked the name of the song, the 21 year old woman, who was finishing putting on her highlight, would not be able to answer. That in no way stopped her from singing and dancing along.
Ding!
The song was interrupted for just a second, but she let out a groan of annoyance and put down her mirror onto the bed with white covers, and a golden brown hand extended to grab the phone and see who was messing up her groove.

Genoveve smiled and set down her phone, then checked the mirror to confirm that she was finally done with the hell process that was a light face of makeup. With her highlight, winged eyeliner and natural eye shadow, she knew that she'd be serving looks at... the grocery store. She had been craving peaches and some tea all day, and finally decided to get some at around 4. It was about 5:45 currently.
She put away her things and put the bags on the dresser in front of the bed, where she had her television playing on mute. Some Netflix show that she didn't really have any interest in, like always.
Brown eyes scanned the room, to figure out what she had to do the next, and they moved from the jacket that was thrown onto the floor, then to the phone that was still playing.
She grabbed the jacket and put it on first, moving neck-length black hair out of the way, then she moved to grab her phone, and the earphones that were next to it. Plugging the earphones in, she made her way out of the room, not bothering to shut the door, and made her way through the old and short hallway and into the living room, which only held a couch, a coffee table, TV with a stand, and a bookcase full of books that she knew she would never read in her life.
Looking up from her phone she saw her keys and purse on the kitchen counter and she made her way over, finishing up replying to things on her social media apps. She shoved her phone into her jean's pocket, grabbed her card and some cash from her purse and put it in the other side, grabbed her keys, and shut the lights off before getting out of her apartment, and to her nearest grocery store.

The drive over wasn't bad, she thought. Not as bad as it could have been, at the very least, driving around in any part near here was like driving around in a zombie apocalypse, but at the moment, it simply just wasn't bad. She entered the grocery store, and welcomed the heater inside.
New York was cold, a lot colder than California, where she had grown up.
Grabbing a basket with the name of the store plastered all over it, she made her way straight to the fruits section, grabbing as many peaches as she knew she could eat in one sitting, so five. Thinking about what else to get, she heard someone let out an
"Excuse me, ma'am, could you, uh, do me a favor?"
