The next day was very uneventful. Max stayed away and I didn't see him anywhere. So today we a girls day. I didn't feel much like going out so we stayed in minus the store run we had to do. comfy clothes movies and junk food.
Chels was cool with hanging out for the day. She said it was just like old times. But she also knew something was off. "Ok, now what is wrong with you today my dear?" She said grabbing the bag of candy from me.
"Hey, I was eating that." I whined.
"Oh, boo, now tell me." She said seriously.
"Fine, I'm confused ok." I said with a huff.
"Ok, care to elaborate?" She asked me to continue.
"After we made up yesterday, I went to find Max. He was with his friends and I really needed to talk to him." I started with a scowl on my face. "But, he thought it was a big joke and I just wanted to leave and then when I do go to leave he stops me and kisses me again!"
"I knew it! You two liked each other. So, what's the big deal? He likes you too, right?" She said looking at me confused.
I didn't say anything I was to lost for words. That and my mind was to jumbled to speak. I mean does he like me back and do I really like him that much? Yesterday answered each of those questions, but why am I not happy and why am I here instead of out there?
I wasn't exactly sure but I didn't get to think too much about it because Chels pulled me from my thoughts.
"So..?" She asked getting my attention.
"Ok, so we like each other. Now what? We get together and everything is fine. No I don't think so." I said.
"Well, not exactly what I meant, but at least talk more. Gosh, do you have to be so difficult?" She said laughing.
"I guess not, but can we talk about this later? I want some movie time." I whined trying to get her to drop it.
She shut up about it and that I was thankful for. We watched some movies and pigged out on junk before the adults got home.
In walked Joe and Britt and they immediately had annoyed looks on their faces. "You girls always do this. Can't you try and be at least neat?" Joe raged.
"Of course, but what would be the fun it that." Chels decided to get smart.
Britt immediately smiled but hid it from Joe who just got more annoyed. "Clean this up. And for the love of god does any one know where my idiot son is?"
And there it is I felt a little sad at the mention of him but no one noticed. You see when, Max decides to disappear, Joe comes to me, well cuz, I always know where he is. "Sorry, jojo, haven't seen him today."
"God, that boy is frustrating sometimes." He sighed "ok if you hear from him, please let him know I'm looking for him."
"Sure thing." I said and they went off into the other room. Soon after they came home we cleaned and Chels said this place was becoming depressing. So I agreed to go out with her.
We, more like she, decided to take a joy ride to the bar that every goes to. The last time I was here was with Max and that seemed like forever ago.
I had this weird feeling that maybe I should have stayed home but I had no choice. We got there and immediately was greeted by the usual people but some new.
Chels and had been drinking just a little and she dragged to the dance floor. I was actually having fun but I still had that feeling. I didn't get to think much of it because someone decided to dance with me. I didn't mind much and I turned and saw he was actually kind of cute and then as I looked closer I actually knew who it was. "Luke?"
"The one and only." He smirked and I was so happy I hugged him.
"OMG! Why is this the first time I'm seeing you this summer." I scolded him.
See for the past three years, Luke and I have become very close. Not that way, just really good friends. And I a little upset that this is the first time I'm seeing him.
"Well, I would have seen you sooner, but I had work and I just got here this week." He shrugs.
"I'm glad to see you." I said.
"Of course." He said and I just slapped his arm at his cockiness.
We decided to give up the dance floor and catch up. I found out he has been going to college and working year round for none other than my exes father. I told how everything has been and when he found out what happened he was really upset. But I told him not to worry about it, that the past is the past.
3 hours and 2 drinks later we had finally caught up our year apart. It was actually fun. Chels came over finally breaking our conversation "LUKE! Your back!! When did this happen?"
"This past week. So, Chels still being the same old crazy person I see?" Luke asked laughing.
"Exactly, and that is what everyone loves about me. But that is not why I came over here." She said getting serious.
I furrowed my eyebrows and asked "what do you mean"
She point to the other side of the bar and said "Look."
I didn't understand but when I looked I saw Max and he was all over what's her name. I honestly can't for the life of me remember what her name is. But when I saw that I instantly realized that feeling I have been having. Yeah well this is it.
Luke was confused at what we were talking about and turned to look where we were looking. "Hey isn't that...?"
"Yup." Chels quickly answered.
I didn't know what to do but I felt hurt and I really didn't feel like being out anymore. I wanted to leave but I couldn't look away and just like he felt someone staring at him, he looked right at me. He smirked but when he saw who was with me the look immediately changed.
I didn't stick around to see why because I was pulled out and brought to a car.
MAX POV
I was having fun just hanging and the same girl from before found me and honestly I didn't mind. but I felt as like I was being watched and when I looked up, I was proved right.
There was Jess sitting there watching me and I smirked at her kind of happy to see her. Yes I have been avoiding her lately but, It was nothing personal. When I saw someone else look this way I immediately didn't feel happy. Luke is back, great, just great.
I didn't get a chance to go and talk to them because she was leaving and with this girl on me I couldn't move fast enough. I swear when she looked at me I saw hurt in her eyes.
I didn't understand but I will get the bottom of it. I just left it and continued to have fun and I would talk to her tomorrow.
