Hello! So, this is my first story. I am writing it based off of the computer game Amnesia: The Dark Descent (the reason of the name) If you don't know what it is, it's a game where you play as a character named Daniel. You wake up in a castle with no clue what happened, barely remembering your own name. You go throughout the castle trying to discover why you're there, and what happened. Meanwhile, there are monsters trying to stop you who respond to The Shadow, which is following you thorughout the castle.
I hope you enjoy this story, and I would love some feedback :) Thank you!

My head is pounding. When I am finally able to regain consciousness, this is the first fact I register. What has happened? Where am I? What am I doing here? I shake these questions from my head as I struggle to stand.
As soon as I am on my feet, a pale pink substance staining the carpet I am standing on catches my eye. What is it? I slowly walk over to it, and notice there is a trail of it. Then, I hear a soft, echoing voice.
"Follow it."
My eyes widen. Why did that voice sound so familiar? It sounded like mine! It couldn't have possibly been mine! I don't remember saying anything!
Eventually, I do follow the trail. I have been following it for about 2 minutes when I spot a letter sitting on a small end table. I smile, an odd feeling, hoping that maybe it could have some answers. I open it and begin to read.
19th of August, 1839.I wish I could ask you how much you remember. I don't know if there will be anything left after I consume this drink. Don't be afraid Daniel. I can't tell you why, but know this..I choose to forget. Try to find comfort and strength in that fact. There is a purpose, you are my final effort to put things right. God willing, the name Alexander of Brennenburg still invokes bitter anger in you. If not, this will sound horrible. Go to the Inner Sanctum, find Alexander and kill him. His body is old and weak, and yours, young and strong. He will be no match for you. One last thing. A Shadow is following you. It's a living nightmare, breaking down reality. I have tried everything, and there is no way to fight back. You need to escape it as long as you can. Redeem us both Daniel. Descend into the darkness where Alexander waits and murder him.Your former self,Daniel
My brain hurts. I look around for the supposed Shadow, but there is nothing in sight. I smile. I continue to follow the trail, when it leads me to a very long, dark hallway. I am now scared, having a tremendous fear of being lost in the dark and never coming out again. I feel around, and find a lantern with some oil left. I thank my lucky stars and press on down the hallway.
I am doing very well. This darkness remains well lit by this lantern, and I have even found some oil to go along with it, which will help it last a lot longer. Only some unsettling events have occured, such as doors opening by themselves, and seeing books unexplainably fall off some shelves. I only had a slight headache, so I brushed it off, figuring it would go away in time.
That's when I heard it. A deafening roar. I fell to the ground, paralyzed by fear.
