This is kind of in Claire's POV so....

"Claire go brush your teeth, papa will be upstairs in a moment. I need to do some paperwork."

Claire obediently trotted up the stairs with her stuffed bear in hand. She was a big girl now and papa didn't need to help her brush her teeth anymore. She made her way to the bathroom and placed Randy on the closed toilet lid. She picked up the stool from the corner of the bathroom and placed it in front of the sink. Grabbing her pink sparkly toothbrush , she applied some toothpaste as neatly as she could.

After she brushed her teeth and rinsed her mouth, she grabbed Randy. But as she made her way to her room, she stopped in front of Castiel's room.

"Hmm." The secret drawer papa wouldn't tell me about, I wonder what's inside it?

Claire glanced over the top of the staircase. Her father could be seen going through papers on the kitchen island.

She grinned deviously and took a detour to her father's bedroom.

Now every room in the Novak house was spotlessly clean, but Castiels' room had to be the most pristine one in the house.

Claire placed Randy on the floor, leaning him against the outside wall of the doorway. "You keep watch for papa." she ordered.

Claire then went to the side of the room where the dresser was. She leaped, stretching her hands to reach the drawer handle. To no avail she was just too short.

She huffed and haughtily placed both hands on her hips. Suddenly, she got an idea.

The little blonde girl skipped back to the bathroom and lifted up the stool she had been previously using. Why hadn't I thought of this before? she wondered.

She ran back into Cas's room and placed the stool right in front of the dresser. She placed both her feet on it and reached over for the top drawer again.

Claire groaned. The stool barely did anything!

Fortunately, she got another idea. Claire hurried over to her father's bed and grabbed a few pillows. She stacked two of them on the stool. Claire proceeded to stand up, wobbling a bit but she held out her arms to avoid a plummeting to the ground. She lifted her hands up for extra measure. She was almost there, just a tad bit higher-

"Claire!" Her dad's voice boomed from the doorway. Startled, she retracted back a bit. Castiel instinctively stepped forward to catch her so she wouldn't fall, but Claire landed on one of the stray pillows which broke her fall.

"Oof!"

Darn it. Papa caught me.

"Claire...what were you doing?"

Claire glared in the direction of her stuffed bear. Randy was currently lying limp by his side so half of his body was shown from outside doorway. "Rwandy you were supposed to keep watch!" she whispered scolded.

Castiel raised an eyebrow at his daughter. He noted the stool from the bathroom. Most of the pillows were absent from his bed, and present on the floor.

"Claire?" Castiel asked again.

"I was...um...trying to make myself taller?" his daughter replied sheepishly. Well it wasn't exactly a lie. It was half a lie. And Uncle Gabe said that half a lie was better than a whole lie so she wasn't really doing anything terribly bad.

Cas crossed his arms, staring at Claire with the 'and?' face.

Claire folded both her hands behind her back and avoided her father's eyes. "Sorry papa, I was trying to see what you are hiding in the top drawer." she murmured feebly.

Castiel huffed out a bit of laughter. Claire was a good girl, but curiosity seemed to get the better of her sometimes.

The man bent down to his daughter's level. "Honey, I'm not hiding anything in there."

"Then why can't I see what's in it?"

"Because you can't. There are really mean spirits in it that I have to protect you from."

Claire gave him an odd look. "But what you can do, is play in your room until I come back-okay? Then I'll tuck you in for bed."

Claire nodded. Castiel patted her shoulder before leaving the room. The blonde little girl cleaned up all the pillows and placed them as neatly as she could on the bed.

She lifted up her stool again and trotted into the bathroom, placing it in its original spot. She went out and grabbed Randy on her way to her bedroom.

Obviously papa was lying, because papa didn't believe in spirits and told her that they were just made believe and figments of imagination. Maybe it was a secret present? It wasn't her birthday yet and she wasn't aware of any upcoming holidays.

She would find out what was in that top drawer.

"Next time I'm asking Sofía to guard the door."

All this research searching was making Dean's head ache. All he desired at the moment was to get into some actual action and kick the ass of whatever thing was killing people. And yes, he and Sam haven't found out what was causing all the murders.

They needed to kill it fast. The faster they cracked this case, the quicker he would be able to get away from Castiel. He couldn't just sit there and pretend like he wasn't jealous that someone else had the privilege of having Cas as the father of their son. He couldn't pretend that even after all these years he still wanted Cas. But when has anything ever gone right for a Winchester?

It wasn't even just that. Whatever this was was in close proximity of Cas. He needed to protect him. Claire as well. He didn't know her as well, but he felt the need to protect her too.
