Song: Take Me Down by The Pretty Reckless
···············································
Daniels P.O.V"Hey"
"Daniel" They sang.
"Get up, you got school." They said again.
Next thing you know, I was met with a cold breaze as my blanket got token off of me.
I open my eyes to the harsh sunlight to see the silhouette of my aunt. I then quickly close them. "Please close the curtains." I begged."You need to get up Daniel." She said sternly.
"I know, I know. It's just to bright." I reply.
"Fine." She said then I heard the curtains close. I open my eyes.
"Thanks, Auntie." I give her a small forced smile.
She smiles big." Hurry up and get dressed, I have a surprise for you down stairs!" She cheers.
I raise one of my eyebrows at her. "Surprise?"
"Yes! Now hurry up!" She walks out and shuts my door.
My Aunt lives with my mom and I ever since my dad died 4 years ago. She's practically my mom. You see my mom's a lawyer and she never has time for me. And when she does, she spends it at work. It's like she doesn't want to see me because I look like my father. So we aren't exactly close, since she's never home.
I get dress and look at my phone to see its 7:13 in the morning, and no messages.
Not like I have any friends to message me...I open my door and went down stairs. The smell of eggs and bacon catch my senses. I hear chatter coming from the kitchen. I walk in and there sits my mom. Surprise and confusion spreads over my face. "Hey Mom..." I say.
She gives me a small smile. "Surprise!" My aunt says.
Sure is a surprise. "Aren't you suppose to be at work?" I question as I grab a plate of eggs.
"Ah, yes I am. I'm actually on a case right now, but I came home first to ask you something." She replies.
I raise my right eyebrow. "What is it?"
"Um... I... How do I say this?" She thinks for a moment.
I sit across from her at the kitchen island. She opens her mouth then says "How will you like to come with me to one of my cases?" She looks at me hopeful."W-what...?" I reply.
"Come with me to this little town called Vines Town? It's where my case is." She tells me again.
"Along?" I ask. " What about school?" I question again.
"Yes along, and I already informed them." My aunt says.
"What if I want to say no?" I ask as my aunt sits down with us at the island.
Her face falls. "It would be alright. I understand if you don't want to go." She looks at her food. That's a first. I've never seen my mom be sad over me... God, now I got that feeling I don't like creeping up my back.
My aunt gives me the it's-your-mom-that-you-hardly-see look.
"I'm joking mom. I'd love to go." I fake smile.
"Good!" She smiles brightly at me. "We leave in about 20 minutes" She gets up and puts her plate in the sink.
I nod my head and finish my food before running up stairs and packing up. I go to my door and call out to my mom " How Long Are we gonne be?"
She pops her head out of her bedroom. "Depends what my client wants with this case. Maybe a month or so?" She questions.
"Okay." I give her a tight lip smile. It might not seemed like we're very awkward towards one, another but there is. If you were standing in my shoes, you could feel it.
As I finish zipping up my suitcase, I grab my phone to find three message from my "friend" Westan.
I read the message.
Westan:
Where are you? I can't find you at all!Westan:
Dude the bell already rang.
Class is starting.Westan:
Where TF are you???I quickly send him a text.
Me: Yeah I'm not going to be there. I'm going out of town for awhile with my mom. So don't bother looking for me anymore. Why were you looking for me anyways?
I shut off my phone. I look around to see if I need anything else. Then I remembered my headphones. I grab them off of my dresser and go to put my suitcase in the car. After my mom and I left my aunt with a hug, kiss on the cheek and a goodbye.
We get in and I plug in the AUX and play Take Me Down by The Pretty Reckless. My mother doesn't say anything about my music choice.
To Vines Town we come.
