I was sitting around a able, with five orher female competitors. There was Jena from France, Jaehee from South Korea, Merida from Scotland, Grace from America, and Lei from China. It was threatenly quiet. I was also the youngest one there, while everyone else was in their early room mid twenties. "You know Grace, you could have really turned that single into a triple," Lei hissed at her conpeteator. It sounded like come advice, but was toned to kill.
"Oh," the American sneered, "At least my costume didn't look like someone spilled brown paint on it." The only thing nice said during the meal was when we were figuring out to eat.
"Oh, Akira," Merida got my attention. I hadn't said anything or had anyone said anything to me the entire meal. "Isn't you're name a boy name?" They all laughed at me.
"It's a unisex name," I shrugged, "Bur it is more common for guys to have it. My brothers name is the same way except for girls." I was poking at the food on my plate, regretting my desicion to come with. I was surprised I wasn't shaking from how paniced I was.
"Awe that must explain his lack of masculentiy," Jena giggled, and the rest of them followed. "Oh and on that topic, have you seen Akira's free skate costume. Could you not afford another one?"
"At least I'm not eating with a fork," I mumbled. Even the other Asain skaters were eating with forks. None of them seemed to notice my comment.
"Awe, is the little girl trying to make up for the masculinity in their name that they lack," Lei added to the gang pile against me.
"Maybe she spent too much monet on hair dye,"Grace added, "Have you seen pictures of her in her National years." She pulled out her phone and showed it around to everyone.
"Why are you guys so mean?" I asked. I was used to hearing abour how friendly the other skaters are from Yuri. Even when I was talking with them earlier that day, they all seemed to be friends. While the girls seemed to be in a constant longinf to rip out the other' throats.
"You're probably so used to being the top of the chain in your little nationals, always winning gold and what not," Jena hissed at me, "Its different here." Just then I got a text from Yuri, seeing if I wanted to meet him and hang.
"You know, you are all jerks," I told them, pulling out my wallet, "You feel threatened by anything different." I threw down enouvhonet to pay for everyone's meal. "You should learn manners." I then jumped over the back of the booth and left.
The next day during competition ever female conpetitor would stop and glare at me, even the ones I didn't go out to eat with. "What did you do?" Naomi asked.
"Payed for their meals and gave them some simple advice," I shrugged. She knew fully well how demonic the female skaters could be. She used to compete before she got married. She got silver in a Grand Prix, nothing overly extraordinary.
We had gotten there shortly before the female senior devision started, so I missed Yuri's free skate, and the kiss, but I got plenty of pictures of it off the internet in the days to come. I sorta wabted to find my brother to talk with him before I competed, but Naomi had a strong grip on me and wouldn't let me wonder.
We actually watched the other competitors that day as my meds seemed to be working better, or I was nore pissed than nervous. They all danced to stereotypical classical songs, nothing really wow worthy. "You did great," I told all of them as they got of the ice, in their native tounge. I had Jean teacher me all the phrases before we came to the competition. I had just told Jena that, and I was up. I was going last, as I managed to get in first the day before.
"Oh so you saw how a girl is ment to skate," she told me, with a sneer on her face. She pushed me out of the way and walked past me. I turned at her with my arms outstretched, like what the hell bro.
"Aki," Naomi hissed, and slapped my arm. She knew too well I would fight her. "Use that energy for skating." I sighed, she was right. I needdd to show them all how girls are ment to skate, cause what they did wasn't. I took off my jacket, glasses and blade covers. Adds to my costure was a simple black skirt. I had gone against Naomi and didn't wear it in Japan, but she made me weat it that day.
I skates out onto the ice, ready for them to see what they needed to.
The song : Fools Gold by Fitz and the Tantrum.
The story: Someone was veiwed as the best, but what they were doing wasn't making them happy. They then chaanged to do it their way. The continued to do it even when others down fraded them. They didn't care if they won, or if they were the best. They were happy doing what they wanted to do.
What I was saying; I may not be what you expecting, but this whole I am. I not as simply defined as boy and girl. I'm neither. I'm both. You're expecting one. But you should never know what to expect with me.
I accidentally fell once. I had forgotten the program, and almost did a triple when it was only a double. I quickly got up and continued. It didn't effeft my score too much, as I won't gold.
"You see what I mean," I smirked at Jena and rest of the competitors as I got given my metal and flowers. I broke apart my bouquet and found every single female competitors and gave them a flower. I only had three roses left when I was done.
I was brought into the room with all the reports and instantly saw the tall Russian that was my brother's coach. "Brb," I told Naomi and ran out into the crowd of people. "Yuri!" I yelled and tackled my brorher in a hug. He was in the middle of an interview byt I didn't care.
"You're happy?" Victor questioned, probably confused. I only had three flowers, and I had given Naomi my metal.
"You won't silver!" I screamed helping my brother up, and hugging him again.
"Yeah," he laughed awkwardly, probably seeing how I didn't win anything. He looked to be ready to comfort me.
"You need to stop running off," Naomi complained, forcing her way over to us. "And wear your metal, pictures are being taken." She slipped the golden meal over my head, shocking the two a bit.
"You won gold?" Yuri asked, udderly amazed.
"I won gold," I shrugged. I didn't care about winning in the slightest.
