The hell that was hidden

Everything finally came back into view. Managing to get up, I feel the pain rush in me. It was hard to tell what entirely happened since all I see is what was left of our car and some strange small figures around. I managed to walk towards there, all sudden regaining into focus as I stopped in horror. The car was ruined as smoke was coming out of it as people begin to come near. Without hesitation I was able to locate my bag and Dad's machete, making sure to grab before the upcoming people came near us.  Something about them just felt uncomfortable. Then heard a sudden noise coming from my brother as I turn towards his direction as the car door lays slightly above him, though glass covering his way of an exit. I quickly limped over, putting in most of my effort to at least lift up the door enough for him to get out. He comes out slightly less wounded compared to me, holding his slightly torn backpack and the frying pan from earlier.
"Where's Mom and Dad.." he says with a stern voice. We looked around in both panic as we heard a screech of agony. We turned, holding up our I guess now weapons as then sudden chills came crawling up my back.
A small group of them, hording over my mom as they begin to tear right into her. Even enough to where they've managed to yank the insides out. In panic, I tried to locate my dad as I begin to see more coming towards us. The people.. No.. Whatever the hell they are.. They're all around us. Without second thought of all that is happening, I grabbed my brother and dragged him with as I ran opposite direction. If I couldn't defend myself back at home, then there's no way to even try there.
I continue to run, feeling the pain from before striking right back to me over and over. No matter how much my body screamed for me to stop, I couldn't. I wanted it all to go away.
I want to wake up now.
"KITO! WE'RE SAFE NOW." I finally came to a stop. Turning as I was panting heavily to see my brother glaring at me with tears going down his face. He viciously move his arm out of my grip.
"We lost the zombies Kito.. We.. lost them.." Angelo then looked away, wiping his tears onto his bloody hand. I couldn't say anything for the fact that I was trying to regain my breath, of course trying not to collapse of the sudden stings of pain. Though, it would be best not to respond anyways.
Finally regaining breath, I look around to notice we're in a deserted like urban area. Something felt off about the town though as if already something stroke it. It felt eerie.
I turned back to my brother to see he was quiet while looking down as he was holding the frying pan tight. I let out a sigh, placing my hand on his shoulder as he then quickly snapped.
"We could've saved them Kito!! We could've saved dad!!! But you decide to take your time. You decide to deny reality!!! If you weren't hooked up into your girlfriend's as-.. Butt!! Then.. AGH!!" he stomps off in frustration as he then circles around to come back to me.
"If you weren't like Rosaria or her family or whatever back there then-" he points his finger at me as he spoke his sentence.
"She had nothing to do with this." I said with a well, hopefully chilling voice. I don't know what was with this sudden change but, I wont take it.
"Oh really. A coward who decides to hide from the world because its apparently crumbling away instead of trying to fix it or do anything to improve it themselves."
"She is not that. Maybe I am like that but not her."
  "As if."
We both stay quiet, still sensing the tension around. We try to glare at each other right at the eyes but all I could see in his was hurt. I gave in, looking away.
"You know.. She is more sensitive compare to us.. She even didn't have a choice to leave.." I looked back to see him quickly wiping off tears again.
"Im sorry I was an idiot.. Im sorry.. How much of a fool I became because I didn't listen to you.. Im sorry if I hurt you that badly.." I said as I even felt hurt about this whole situation.
Before anyone had a chance to say anything, sudden gunshots were heard. Me and my brother looked in surprise. We try to locate where they were coming from until they started to come closer.
"Maybe.. That's an army man.." I say with reassurance, knowing that my brother wouldn't believe it anyways. We hear sudden noises, not gunshots but as if people, a group, were moaning and groaning. It then starts to grow louder.
  "K-kito.."
  "Yeah.. I know.."
"What do we do?.." the noises began to come closer to us. Though we were able to see now the monster like people showing up, we were still unsure who was firing. If it's even worth the risk to go near them.
  "Kito.. I don't want to-"
"We're gonna live. Just.. Uhm.." maybe we could just hide, but the group may follow. Or maybe.. We head towards the gunshots anyways, leading them off the people or whoever with the guns. Then hide. Yeah, that should work.
"Kito!!" a lady who looks as if part of her face was ripped off, seeing the the skin hang attached still as you could see her jaw bones attempts to take hold of me. Without hesitation, I swing the machete, hitting her right above the almost ripped off eye. I quickly then kick her down as I ripped out the machete from her, trying not to be bothered for what I've done. As I quickly take hold of my brother, once again drag him off with me, I start to aim us towards the gunshots.
  "Kito what are you-"
"Just, trust me here." we continue running till we finally ran into who was firing.
A woman, wearing a white, now stained with blood, loose long sleeve shirt with a skirt, was shooting at others. It looks as if she was trying to get to somewhere but they were in the way. I suddenly stop to notice that what she was trying to get to was a little girl, who was hiding under the car as some of the zombies still hoard over there.
"Sheesh.. She has awful aim.." my brother mumbled, forgetting about  those behind us. At this rate, we'll all wind up dead.
"Screw it." without thinking, I ran over as I begin to slice into the heads of the monsters hoarding over the car. I was able to help the little girl get out, both me and her ready to head towards the lady until some guy who had blood all over his mouth tried to attack us. Knowing that I wasn't ready to swing, I had to defend her by making sure I would be the one attacked first. I thought this would be my end until, my brother manages to wack the guy with the pan.
It did made the guy out of balance but, not enough to kill him off. The guy, ready to head towards us, gets his head blown off. The little girl turned herself to look away, digging into my sweater in fear. The headless man then falls down as you see the lady, terrified as she opens the car and motions us to get in before more of the monsters start catching up. Without hesitation, my brother quickly runs in and so did I as I carried the little girl in as the lady jumped into the front seat. A bearded guy then steps on the gas breaks as the car  begin to run down the hoards. Of course, me and Angelo tried not have the child leave off her seat during the bumps as we did.

Looking out the windows, it already starts to fall into night. We've surprisingly ran into no problems except only having to see the nightmare outside. It sure is taking a while for wherever we're going now. I then felt a light tap as I turn to see my brother, looking guilty.
"I'm sorry I said all those things earlier.. Just.. We didn't even get to help mom and dad... Or even say bye... We.. Didn't do anything.." he says quietly, trying to make it that only I could hear even though the Mother and the child were asleep.
".. That's because we were first time experiencing this nightmare, Angelo. Experiencing the hell that was outside of our town. What the army.. Wanted to hide. It wasn't our fault.. It was just.. Horrible luck of fate.." I tried not to seem surprise that those words came out of my mouth. Angelo sighed.
"..but.. We did eventually learn.. And look, we helped out.. Isn't that a good feeling?.. Somewhat??.." Angelo then looks at me then lowers his head, holding it there as his eyes looked up at me in a way of confusion or worry.
"Kito... She has a bite mark.." he says with unsureness. I tilted my head.
"So?" he looked at the driver, who was the father of the child, and then looked back me.
"I just.. Wanted to say.." Angelo says hesitantly, as if he was limiting with own sentence.
