Avery's P.o.v-
My alarm clock starts blaring pierce the veil "king for a day" , I groan and look at the clock. It's 7 am , I get up and walk to the restroom.
I look at my face in horror considering how shitty I look. I wash my face and brush my teeth , I try to make my hair look a bit decent but give up and put it in a braid. I put on some mascara and a bit of concealer hiding my red spots. Then I throw on a nirvana sweatshirt and some skinny jeans with black vans.
I walk downstairs and my mom says good morning and gives me an apple and says goodbye . She has to go to work early again... great. Now I have to walk to my idiotic high school. I lock the house and start my walk to school. It's about a five minute walk so I try to take my time , I'm walking when I hear someone yelling "wait up!" .
I turn to see my best-friend ,Sam, jogging to get to me from across the street. I laugh at how stupid she looks and wait up for her. She greets me with a what's up and I say the usual "nothing". We get to our school and then we see her. Edith Stonem. She gets out of her new BMW and all of the populars go to talk with her. Me and Sam roll our eyes at her perfect slim body, her perfect skin tone, and her impeccable taste in style.
I've always been jealous of Edith, in fact every girl in the school envies her. It's hard to believe that from 5th grade to 7th grade we were best friends. Then 8th grade hear she suddenly outgrew me and left me for the populars. I was then considered the average person.
I wasn't bullied but I wasn't cool. I was just average and that wasn't enough for Edith , but then I met Sam and she accepted me for being myself and we became best-friends. Now were in our senior year and everything's getting more and more serious. I enter my school and me and Sam part ways to go to our different classes, I have history and she has science.
I start walking upstarts to my class when I see him. Dillon Curtis. He's walking down the stairs when I hear a familiar voice call his name out then I see a girl wrap her arms around him. Edith. Then she leans in for a kiss, and she blocks my path and kisses him right in front of my face. Literally. He noticed my discomfort and says "excuse us" and pulls her away from me. She laughs a silly little giggle and says "whoops sorry".
I ignore her and continue my walk up the stairs . I know she wasn't sorry , and the exact reason why is because I've had a crush on Dillon since 6th grade. Edith was the first person I told and every since then she just rubs the fact that they're together whenever she can. I don't know why she has this deep dislike for me considering everything she has. She has a ginormous house , a car, plenty of money , then the hottest guy in school and is ranked the most popular.
I enter my class and sit in my usual spot next to the window . The bell rings and Edith enters late saying she was in the restroom and the guys stare at her as she walks in. I mean she is gorgeous. The teacher dismisses her excuse and tells her to sit down . She goes to her usual spot but a new girl that I didn't notice before is sitting her spot. She looks at her like she's an idiot and coughs . The girl looks up and by her facial expression is confused.
Edith puts a fake smile on and tells her that , that is her spot. Surprisingly the girl tells her " I don't see your name on it?" Edith looks shocked that someone isn't following her orders and tells her "well it doesn't but I've been sitting here for half the semester already ,You can't just come in and try to take what isn't yours" in the bitchiest tone I've heard. The teacher turns her attention to them and tells the new girl to please move.
Hearing that Edith smirks at the new girl . The new girl mutters and gets up them turns to look for a seat . There's only one open and it's next to me. I see her face and she's really pretty . I mean as pretty as Edith expect she has brunette hair and green eyes whereas Edith has blond hair and blue eyes. She sits next to me and introduces herself , "hey I'm Tris, is she always that bitchy ?" I laugh at her straightforwardness and nod.
"I'm Avery" we laugh together and then start listening to the teacher talk about Indians. 45 minutes go by and the bell rings dismissing us. I walk out with Tris and she asks me about her schedule I tell her that we the same class together next. We're walking when all of a sudden someone slaps Tris.
