Lucas woke up lazy. Annie had called him last night, telling him he had to accompain her on the shopping mall. Apparently, she had made a new friend and he needed new clothes. He had wanted to say no to her, but he also knew how annoying Annie could be when people rejected her. He didn't like that side of Annie and wasn't in the mood to deal with her either. So he got up, had a shower and got ready. A long day was ahead of him.

After eating breakfast, which consisted on bacon and eggs, he waited for Annie to call him. The wait wasn't very long, only half a hour. "Be at your house in fifteen." Was the first thing Annie said when Lucas answered the phone.

"Good morning to you too." Lucas snapped sarcastically.

"Sarcastic in the morning, eh? Someone has woken up in the bad side of the bed." the purple head exclaimed.

"I'm just not in the mood. Is there any chance I don't come along?" he asked even though he knew the answer. There was no turning back when it came to Annie.

"No, no superstar. You'll come with me and that's final. See ya later." she hung up before Lucas could have time to protest.

"I only want a normal friend. Is this too much to ask?" he said to no one in particular. He loved Annie, but sometimes she could be very stubborn and persistent.

Annie didn't lie when she said she'd be there in fifteen minutes. The door bell rang and Lucas got up groaning and opened the door to reveal the purple head which he wanted so much to strangle. She smiled at him, showing her pearly white teeth while he tried to give her a death glare.

"You owe me big time." he reminded and locked the door of his apartment. If there was anything Lucas hated most, that was shopping.

"Kiss my ass, superstar. I don't owe you shit." Annie said sassily. Lucas was used to her inappropriate choice of words. The woman could curse more than a sailor and that was an understatement.

"So, who's that friend of yours?" Lucas asked as they entered in the elevator. "Do I know him or her?" he teased, wiggling his eyebrows.

Annie glared at him. She was a queen at teasing others, but when it came to her, she hated it.

"You don't and stop with that suggesting tone." she said sharply.

Lucas rolled his eyes but made no further comment. He knew better than to tease Annie. She would always find a way to turn the teasing back to him. "How did you meet him or her?" he decided to ask as they approached Annie's car.

"You won't believe it if I told you." she said.

"Please, don't tell me you met him at some club and then slept with him and now you feel bad and want to make it up to him and-"

"Lucas!"

"What?"

"You're rambling." Annie chuckled.

"Sorry." Lucas scratched the back of his head.

The got in the car and Annie drove to the shopping mall. "I didn't meat him on a club or anything like that. In fact, I saved his life."

Lucas stared at her with widened eyes. "You did what?"

Annie rolled her eyes. "Is it that hard to believe I saved someone's life? Gee, good to know you have faith in me."

"I didn't mean it that way!" Lucas protested. "I was just surprised, that's all." he sighed as he recalled the moment when Annie had saved his life two years ago. Of course he knew Annie could save someone's life.

"Well, two days ago, I went to my uncle's farm because you know how much I love that old man. When I was driving back, I saw some asshat walking in the middle of the road. I thought he was drunk or something because he was swaying side to side. Then he just collapsed."
