"Are you going to be okay Jessa?" Trevor asked while buttoning up his shirt. "If you need me to, I can call off tonight."

Jessa tried her hardest not to flinch in front of Trevor. "I'm fine."

     "You're not."

"Okay, but I'm not bad enough for you to miss work." Trevor raised an eyebrow at her. "Really. If I feel worse, I promise to go to the emergency room."

"Let me know if you go."

     "Of course."

"I love you Jessa." He gave her a quick kiss on the lips. "I'm allowed to worry about you."

"I know. You're going to be late."

"I'll call you on my break." Trevor gave her another kiss and headed to the door.

Jessa curled herself into a ball and tried to get some rest.

Over the next hour, she tossed and turned, desperate to get relief from the stabbing pains she felt across her lower front abdomen and right backside. "Ow!" She cried out loudly enough to gain the attention of Dan, who had been busy going over a project for his graphic design class.

"Jes?" Dan raced into the living room. 'What's wrong?" Jessa held her side and shook her head, while tears betrayed her pain. "That's it. Put your shoes on. I'm taking you to the ER."

She knew there was no point in arguing with Dan and struggled to get her shoes on her feet.

Jessa curled herself under the blanket that the nurse had given her. "Thanks for staying Danno. I hate doctors."

Dan shrugged his shoulders. "I kind of figured. You've been in pain for at least a week." He thought for a moment, then added, "You're too stubborn for your own good."

"I know. Scar tells me that all the time." She sighed and laid her head back as she waited for the doctor to see her.

Dan held up his phone. "I sent a text to Trevor. Just letting him know I brought you here. I told him that he didn't need to race over. It's surprisingly slow here."

"It's a Wednesday. All of the action happens on Friday night and the weekends." Jessa tried to chuckle at her own joke, but she found it too painful. There was a knock at the door. Jessa straightened her blanket and attempted to call out, "Come in!" but another stabbing pain tore through her. Dan got up and opened the door for the doctor.

"What seems to be the problem?" The doctor asked Jessa.

"It hurts really bad here." She indicated the area across her abdomen. "And it goes all the way over here." She moved her hand by the back of her hip.

"It's been like this for a while. At least a week." Dan interjected, ignoring the scowl from Jessa.

"Also, she's been randomly falling asleep at my place – more often than usual."

"That's not good. Let's see if I can figure out what's wrong. Lay back. I'm going to press around and you tell me if it hurts."

Jessa giggled as the doctor put her cold hands on her belly. "Sorry. I'm ticklish."

The doctor focused on feeling around Jessa's stomach for anything abnormal. "That's okay. Now what if I press here?" Jessa hissed and the doctor continued. "Are you and your boyfriend sexually active?"

Jessa looked at Dan, then turned her pink face away. "Yeah...but we only just started to - it's been like, maybe two weeks. It hasn't been too long."

The doctor looked at Dan. "Do you use condoms?"

Dan stood wide-eyed and completely off guard by the question. "Uhm..."

Without missing a beat, the doctor looked at Jessa. "Does he wear condoms?"

"He always does – he insists." Jessa responded quickly.

The doctor looked back at Dan. "Do you always?"

Jessa blinked. "He's um...that's my friend, not my boyfriend. My boyfriend is his roommate."

"I'm so sorry. My mistake." She walked over to the computer. "I'm going to order a urine test and a blood work up. I'm also going to have someone stop by for an ultrasound. Something doesn't quite feel right, and I want to see what's going on there. We'll figure out why you're in pain and what our next move will be." She smiled, logged off the computer, and left the room.

"I can't believe she thought that you and I..." Dan shook his head.

"Yeah...I have enough going on without worrying about Cockzilla ripping me in two."

     "Jes!"

"What? I'm still trying to figure out how Scarlett still walks." She replied cheekily, before hissing in pain.

"Try and rest Jes." Dan sat back down.
