Aragorn woke up with the morning sun streaming prettily through the beautiful balcony veils. He was refreshed and well rested, but he realised that he wasn't in a man's arms. He wasn't in Legolas' arms. His heart sank a little and he tried to extract himself from Arwen's clutch.

Pretending was really not fun.

As he lifted her arm from around his torso, Arwen sighed and snuggled up close to him, opening her eyes.
"What time is it, meleth?" she asked contentedly. Aragorn couldn't understand why he had stopped liking her. She was so sweet and perfect but yet he now felt none of his old attraction towards her.

"Only just after dawn," Aragorn replied softly. She smiled and settled back down into sleep as Aragorn slid out of the bed and began to dress in a green tunic and pants.

As he stepped out of their bedroom, Aragorn noticed a small scroll on the floor outside their room. He bent down and unravelled it carefully, checking that it was addressed to him. He did not want to pry into Arwen's personal mail.

Dear ion-nîn,

I have some bad news. Last night, Legolas disappeared. I assume that he left, as none of his belongings are still here. I advise you not to make any rash actions, as I know how you feel about him. Legolas is like a second son to me, and I would not see him unhappy also. Please, ion-nîn, think of my daughter. I care for her greatly, although I admit that she has been rather unreasonable lately. I want both her and you happy.

Naethen,
Elrond

Aragorn panicked. He immediately ran to the stables as quickly as possible, putting Brego's saddle upon him and getting ready to follow Legolas. It was most likely that he had returned to Mirkwood.

"You love him," A small voice said quietly behind him. "Of course," she said, her voice cracking and on the brink of crying. "You always go gallivanting after him. Every time." Slow, shaky breaths and sobs followed. Aragorn couldn't take it anymore. He dismounted Brego and ran over to Arwen; this was something he hated to see.

"Go away," she spat angrily, tears rimming her bright blue eyes. "Go."

Needing no further prompt, Aragorn left her sadly. She needed her father; if that was the only thing that Aragorn could do. He ran straight to Elrond's study, blinking back his own tears. Arwen was like his biological sister, but she wanted more than that. It was something that she deserved entirely, but Aragorn was not the person to give it to her. She deserved a strong-willed man and not a weak man like him who was too scared to tell her his feelings for another.

I GOT IT OUT OMGGGGG

I can't reiterate how sorry I am for my extremely busy life. I've been rehearsing for two different shows at once, had extreme writer's block, and had loads of schoolwork and exams to do. Hopefully, if not now, I will try to update more often in January. I am beginning to struggle with this book so at some point I will probably wrap it up and begin a fresh idea!

Please, I know that most writers wouldn't say this, but if you want an update then please pester me about it. If you do then I am much more likely to get it done :)

Please comment, vote and share if you enjoyed!
