"see you tomorrow eunbin, bye!" soyeon said cheerfully as i smiled back at her. she returned me with her wide gummy smile before hurrying to catch her bus home.

aigoo, my best friend was so cute.

i snuggled into my coat as i looked up at the grey sky. i checked my watch and it was only 5.30pm but skies were already turning dark because it was winter.

once i separated ways with eunbin, i turned into a small alley, making my way home.

i lived pretty near my school so it took me a mere 15 minutes to walk home whereas soyeon lived slightly further and had to take the bus.

the alley was narrow and dimly litted, it wasn't quite safe to walk through it alone while it was getting dark but i didn't really mind. it was the shortest way back home and i was really tired today. and, what could even happen? i've walked through this alley a couple of times and reached home fast and safe. it would probably be alright to walk through it again, -

or not.

i suddenly heard heavy footsteps behind me, signalling that someone else entered the alley.

i wasn't a paranoid kind of person so i didn't cared too much at first but the person behind me started humming loudly.

i took a glanced behind to see a middle-aged man, a bottle of beer in his hands as he staggered along the path. he locked eyes with me and smirked, sending a chill down my spine.

feeling a little uneasy, i quickened my footsteps and oh god, he was right on my heels, walking faster to catch up with me.

my heart started thumping faster as i unknowingly started running, but i still couldn't see the end of the alley yet.

"YAH YOU!" the man closely behind me said loudly in a drunken state as he grabbed my arm harshly, causing me to let out a loud scream.

"shut up!" he scolded me as he threw his empty bottle of beer away forcefully. i watched the glass bottle hit the ground and shattering into pieces.

his grip on me was tight and there was no way i could get out of it. he lifted his other hand and placed it on the wall, pinning me against it while laughing like a maniac.

i was on the verge of tears as i shut my eyes in extreme fear while sinking deeper into the wall, trying to get away from the man.

but all of a sudden, i heard another loud voice behind us.

"yah! what do you think your doing?"

i gasped softly as i opened my eyes slowly, only to see kim donghan - my neighbour and my classmate.

"let go of her now, or i'll call the police," he said to the man harshly as he pulled out his phone, glaring at him. the man cocked up an eyebrow as he pulled his hands away from me and the wall.

"you'll get it from me," the man spat before turning away and stumbling away.

once the man was out of my sight, my legs gave way and i fell to the floor while heaving a huge sigh of relief.

"hey, are you okay?" donghan asked as he squat down beside me.

i looked up warily, seeing the genuine concern in his eyes.

well, although donghan was my neighbour and my classmate, we weren't close at all. we were barely even friends to start off with. he was kind of a guy of few words, but so damn good looking.

"kwon eunbin, are you okay?" he asked again, breaking me away from my thoughts.

"u..uh oh...yeah... i'm fine. thanks," i said softly.

he nodded, then an awkward silence filled the air.

"get up, i'll walk you home," he said as he reached out his hand for me to pull me up.

"h...huh? o..oh...okay..." i stuttered as i took his hand gratefully and tried to stand up but my legs wobbled and i fell down on my butt again.

"ow..." i muttered.

donghan blinked, then he released my hand and for a moment, i thought he was just going to leave me there.

but then, he turned around and said, "get on my back."

i was a little shock at first, not knowing how to react.

"hurry up," he turned back to look at me.

well, i couldn't decline his offer. if not, i won't even be able to get back home.

i swallowed my saliva before slowing getting onto his back. he stood up and grabbed my thighs lightly, making sure i was stable on his back before walking away.
