At Jefferson Middle School, in New Jersey, a new kid walked into class. He was only carrying one thing, a journal. Now, this journal didn't look like any old, regular diary-like journal. It looked very interesting, also a little creepy. He asked the teacher if he could use the restroom, so I decided to follow him. Before we get any further, let me introduce myself. I'm John Smith. I was new to this school last year, and it wasn't fun, at all. I had no friends, and people pranked me all the time. But enough of me, back to my story. Currently, I'm following this kid to the bathroom, and I still don't know his name.

I walk into the bathroom, and I see a bright blue light shining out of the stall. All of a sudden, the new kid walks out..... With

another person. This kid looks way cooler than him.

"What did you just do," I asked him.

He replies, "I didn't think anyone else was in here."

The funny thing is, I didn't think anyone else was in there either.

The new kid says," Look... I can explain this whole thing. Just...come to my house after school, here's my number. I'll text you my address."

The bell finally rings, and I hear my phone buzz.

Freddie

My address is 536 W Main ST in Trenton.

When I got home, I immediately ran to my room.

"Hey Charles," I said.

Charles is my golden labrador retriever. We've had him since I was 8 years old, and he's always been there for me. Charles is my best friend.

"Mom! I'm going to my friend, Freddie's, house!" I yell.

"Who's Freddie?" she asked.

"He's this new kid at our school, and he seems nice. So can I go?" I asked.

She says it's fine. I head over to his house on my bike. Once I get there I see that he has a really nice house. Twice the size of mine. Then, notice a really big treehouse in the backyard. I ring the doorbell and Freddie answers the door.

" Hey what's up?...."

"John...Uh...John Smith," I reply. We shake hands awkwardly.

"Nice to meet you, John, so what do you want to do?" he asks.

"I want us to be friends," I say.

"Ok, let's go to my treehouse," he says.

We go to his treehouse. It's even bigger than my house! He has a regular size fridge, a 55-inch tv, and even a bathroom! He also has a queen size bed!

"This place is crazy," I say amazed.

He replies, "There is still more. You guys can come out now."

Suddenly, all kinds of creatures, some I've never even seen before, come out of every nook and cranny, in there. Big things, little things, bugs, human-looking things.

"WHAT ARE THESE?" I screamed confuzzled.

"You can't tell anyone, but I have a magic journal...uh...don't be weirded-out, I can explain. I draw something, I can make it appear in real-life," Freddie tells me shyly.

I almost faint. There are so many 'things' I don't know where to start.

"What are these things?" I ask again, breathlessly.

"I don't have names for all of them, so you just kinda have to use common sense on some of them," he said.

He told me that he draws something every day! That they keep him company. It's like he needs them in his life, and I need them too. I only have Charles, Mom, and Dad.

"Can I use your journal to draw something, I promise I'll bring it back to you tomorrow at school?" I ask him.

"I don't know... I guess you can borrow it for one day," says Freddie.

I'm unbelievably happy, so I take it home to store in my dresser.

"John you need to take a shower," my mom demands.

What I didn't know was the book was taking my whole room, and drawing it on the pages. It would disappear in real-life too. When I got out of the shower it took me into it, too. It felt like I was in an alternative universe.

"Is anybody here?" I called out.

All of a sudden, a flying car comes into view.

"Hey, over here!" I yell.

The car flies over to me.

"Where are you going sir?" the guy asked me.

"Honestly, I don't know. I've never been here," I said.

"Well, here's a map of Freddie. See if you can find where you need to go," the driver said.

I look at the map and I notice a site called John's Room.

"Uh, I'll go to John's Room," I said questionably.

So we travel to John's Room and it turns out that it's actually my room. When we get there I tip the driver and travel to my room. I see the journal is still on my dresser. I try to go back through it to our universe. Of course, it doesn't work. I have to get back home.

Meanwhile, Back In New Jersey

At school, Freddie is wondering where John is with his journal. Well, he'll probably bring it back tomorrow, Freddie thought. But he didn't. 2 weeks have passed since John got sucked in. Let's see what John is doing.

John

I can't believe it's been two weeks since I've been here. I don't know what I'm going to do. He looks at his phone. No bars.

Freddie

I'm gonna go look for him. I have an extra journal just in case something like this would happen. He jumps into the journal and sees John immediately.

"You didn't get very far did you," Freddie says.

"I didn't know what to do. Now, could you please take me home," John says almost beggingly.

So Freddie takes me back home and I reunite with my family. Blah blah blah. But the good thing is, I have a new best friend (Sorry Charles). I go over to Freddie's house every day after school and we draw things together, but we only draw things to help them or other people out. (Or when we really need an Ice Cream).
