Drug trigger warning.
Ari felt empty, not happy or even sad he just felt empty. He felt like there was nothing there. So he walked into the party. A house party full of older teens and drugs. Drink after drink, pill after pill. His head slowly dissolved into a fuzzy mess.
Ari's phone began to ring "Where the hell are you?!? Ari, it's almost midnight!" Myron sounded a mix of angry, concerned and scared. In a delirious state he tried to reply "I-I'm at a friend's house, Myro it's okay I'll be back home by three at the latest." his words were slurred and his head was beginning to scream to tell him to stop, but he continued until he passed out.The cold air hit Ari like a truck, "You awake now?" Myron's voice was calm as he gently placed his brother from his arms to the freezing floor. Ari rubbed his head, looking at the taller twin "How did you know...?"
"Ari, I could hear the music on the call. You shouldn't do this to yourself. If 'raine knew ... Come on lets go home."
The walk home was quiet, Ari's guilt was devouring his soul and his body ached because of, and for, the drugs. The house was quiet, Myron went into the kitchen and made two cups of tea before he entered the living room, he sat next to Ari on the sofa and handed him a mug. "So, why do you do it?" Myron turned to face his brother wanting to see him reply, however, instead of an answer Ari's eyes became iced over and began to melt letting tears drip into his tea. Instantly overwhelmed by guilt Ari put down his tea on to the coffee table, and hugged Myron in a deathly tight grip. "Because I'm empty and I'm trying to feel." They stayed hugging for a few more seconds before Myron tried to kill the sadness.
"Do you want to play street fighter in my room like we used to?" Ari released is brother from his death grip and they walked upstairs, abandoning their unfinished tea, and began their game. The next morning kerraine opened the door to Myron's room in search for her brothers. She was delighted to see her younger brothers asleep on red and green bean bags, sleeping like they were still young children without a care in the world. She closed the door and walked downstairs leaving them to their rest.
