Rosa Henry was failing school, in those 13 years she spent living inner older sisters shadow she didn't need to focus much on school. No matter how hard she tried her grades weren't improving. Rosa was artistic, musical, friendly, rich, sporty and the most beautiful girl in school, but she just couldn't seem to get her grades right.
'Mia wouldn't be failing,' Rosa thought as her teacher handed back her test paper. It's not that she didn't focus in class, or not complete her homework - because she did all of that. She had tried everything.
It was only a few weeks back into the school year after the summer holidays and she had already failed a biology test. She needed to improve her grades, and fast. The last thing she wanted was for her father to be disappointed, she knew he would never yell at her or ground her if she got bad grades but she would truly hate to see the look of disappointment in his eyes when he gets a phone call from the headmistress saying she needed to improve or she would be held back a year.
'Mia would have known what to do, Mia would have helped me' Rosa thought, urging herself not to think of it.
While Rosa was walking down the corridor to where her and her friends eat lunch, she saw the 'Get Tutored!' Sign Up Sheet placed on the door to the p.e department. Same place every year, they were probably stereotyping people that were good at sport as people that needed help academically. Rosa managed a small smile when she saw a large majority of the girls that signed up were her friends. Every year Rosa's friends sign up for 'Get Tutored!', because the boys from Mission Boys High School come to Mission Girls High School and tutor the school year lower than them. They play a little game with each other called 'Kiss 'n Diss', seeing who can go through the most tutors in a year, the rule being you have to make out with them before you say you think you need a new tutor. It sounded like a good game but it was never really Rosa's thing, playing with boys for the fun of it. But before Rosa could even stop herself, she found herself pulling out her Hello Kitty pencil and writing her name write underneath that last person on the list, which happened to be her best friend. Rosa needed a tutor, and if she does it through the 'Get Tutored!' program nobody will ever suspect she actually needs tutoring.
Brianna and the rest of Rosa's friends were ecstatic when Rosa told them she was going to do the tutoring program, but the excitement quickly drained away when she said she wasn't going to play the game.
"What's the point if you aren't going to play?" Rosa'a friend Jarna said to her in a funny, dramatic tone.
"I need to pass this year, I don't want to let my dad down, you know?" Rosa replied, all her friends were open with each other and understanding, that's what she loved about them. There were quite a few girls in Rosa's clique, but her closest friends were Brianna, Mandy and Jenna. Her and Brianna had been best friends ever since an art lesson in elementary. and they had decided to pain each others faces rather than the paper. Mandy and Jenna were best friends too, and never left each others side.
The rest Rosa's lunch time was spent gossiping with her friends, making funny Snapchat Stories, and listening to her friends dream up the perfect boyfriend. At lunch break Rosa's group sat in a big circle in the middle of the quad. There were the 'popular' group. The 'Elites' as some of the less cool girls called them. Most of them were really nice girls, and would never act superior over the other girls in the school. However some of them did like to take advantage of their elite status.
Rosa wasn't sad when she heard the bell ring, because she had Art next with her Brianna. Brianna and Rosa had been best friends since they were young. Brianna always told Rosa she was jealous of Rosa's looks, but Rosa couldn't see why Brianna would ever need to be jealous of someones looks. Brianna had long brown hair that fell in straight down her back and striking brown eyes. All the boys drooled over Brianna, but Brianna didn't have a care in the world, she wouldn't even play to her great looks when playing Kiss 'n Diss. Although she wasn't playing it this year because she claims to be whipped on this guy Elliot. Rosa didn't have a problem with him, but he had a problem with her, and everybody else in the world for that matter. Elliot was one of those guys who would beat up a freshman for being a freshman. Rumours are that when he disappeared for 6 months last year he was serving time in Canada for trying to cross the border using his sisters passport, shooting a security guard in the foot for not letting him pass. Bri isn't usually one to go for a bad boy, but Rosa didn't try to question it.

It had been a week since Rosa had signed up for 'Get Tutored!', and she was actually starting to look forward to it! After school 14 boys from the grade abover her at Mission Boys High were coming to meet the 14 girls from her grade that needed tutoring, 7 of those girls were her friends, and most of the 14 boys were going to be victims of their game. Not Rosa's tutor though, she knew better than to let the organising teacher persuade her to swap tutors with one of the other girls due to them 'not getting along'. She had been assigned a tutor named Liam, she was indifferent about the name, unlike her friend Jenna who had been assigned someone with the name Carter almost cried with joy immediatly expecting Carter to be a 'total spunk'.
