Colby: are we still on for tonight?
Sam: Yep! I booked the entire night
Elton: Corey isn't sure what to bring...
Corey: What do I bring?
Corey: I've never done anything like this before
Elton: I'll drop by your house and help you pack
Corey: thanks, cousin Kiel
Colby: WTF?
Sam: Cousin Kiel is Elton's Nickname
Colby: interesting 😂
Colby: Anyways... We meet there at 8, got it?
Elton: that works
Sam: yep
Corey: Yep
=•Colby's POV •=
I out my phone down and look up at the person in front of me.
"So Jessie, how'd you do on the science test?" I ask her ad she lets out a sigh before lulling a stapled paper out from inside her binder. "I got.... 85%" She excitingly smiles as my emotions change and I give her a bright smile. "Yes!" I smile as we high five. "Thanks so much for helping me study, science is not my best class" She admits as she glances away. "Well now you'll be able to go out tonight with your friends or something" I tell her as she shrugs. "I'm not one for going out to the town... I much rather prefer watching Netflix at home" Jessie says as she puts the test away.
We sit in silence for a moment before she opens her phone and her emotions change. "ah... I gotta go, mom's here to pick me up" She says as she slides her binder into her shiny holographic backpack.
I stand up beside her and walk her to the main doors.
"Thank you, so much for helping me" She says to me as she opens her arms and hugs me. I hug back.
It felt warm, and, nice...
As we let go I tell her. "I'll see you later!".
As she opens the first set of doors Sam opens the second set of doors.
"Hey Jessie" Sam smiles as he sees her. "Hey Sam, are you guys studying together too?" She asks as they both stop in between the 2 set of doors. "Yeah, we have a special project Colby, some of our friends and I are working on" Sam says as he gives me a side smirk.
"Anyways, boys always a pleasure. Until the next time. So long and good night!" She winks before exiting through the last set of doors.
I look down at the ground and smile at the My Chemical Romance reference Jessie made.
"So, you ready?" I ask Sam as we both gain a new evil smirk on our faces.
"let's get ready to get our read on" Corey chants as him and Elton walk through the doors.
"boys! Tonight we find out the deep secrets of mermaids" I tell them. "Now the question is, how are we going to be able to stay overnight?" Corey asks as Elton moved past his friends and went into the main room where an elderly lady sat at a desk reading a book.
"Hey, Gran" Elton says as he gives her a warm smile. "Elty!" She smiles as she puts the book down and slowly makes her way to the desk to hug him.
"Ah who are your little friends?" she asks, gesturing to Corey, Sam and I.
"We were wondering if we could... Stay a little later, to work on a big project we have due at the end of the week" Elton pitches the idea to her as she hesitates but Elton continues. "You dont have to stay, I still remember how to lock the place up, after 8 years of seeing you do I" and with those words, a smile of nostalgia spreads across her face ad she holds up her hand with a key chain that had a lot of keys jingling on. "Okay.. Fine" She says as he lifts his hand and she leaves him the keys.
"Don't study too hard" She says as she walks back to the desk and grabs her purse.
Once she left I asked Elton. "So she's your grandma?"
Elton nods in response. "As a child, she always took me to work and she'd show me how to run the shop, how to lock up. The usual" Elton says as he turns off the outside lights and locks both sets of doors. "Okay guys are you ready to stay overnight in a library I'm pretty sure is haunted?" Elton says as he turns to face us.
That might we started off by gathering al the mythological and mermaid books we could find.
We also took a lot of book from a cart and constructed a book castle. "BOW DOWN TO THE KING OF THE GÜNTHY GÜNTHS" Corey says as we all turn to face him as he stood on a table, from where we were. Sitting in the castle. "All hail King Günther" Sam and I chanted as we bowed. "I disagree" Elton climbs on the table.
"Oh! A competitor I see" Corey says as Elton raises a book. "I demand he thrown" He exclaims as Corey runs from the aim of the book. Elton chases after him, in and between the bookshelves they ran as Sam and I laughed.
Sam put his gaze back into the book and showed something to Colby. "Check this out" Sam gestures to the book as I shuffle beside him and look at the pages.
He points to a picture of a cycle of Element. "This says that mers can obtain one or more of the main elements, those being Fire, Water, Air and Earth" Sam explains the picture. "But it also says that most mers can only obtain 1 or 2 powers, on rare occasion can they obtain all of them" Sam explains as I look down at my hands. "So you're saying, I can get fricken powers?!" I ask Sam as I flash my hands at him, he slightly flinches. "Yeah, I guess... But I think it takes a while for them to manifest" Sam flinches as I nod.
Not too long after Elton and Corey walk back towards us. "H-Hey... guys" Corey says breathlessly as he puts his hands on his knees. "Good you guys stopped chasing each other" I joked as I handed Elton a book. "Start looking boys" I tell them as they nod.
After a whole of endless reading, we finally took a break, just 4 guys chilling a book castle. "So boyyyyssss, truth or dare" Sam says as he turns to face the rest of us. "Dare" Elton answeres quickly as Sam nods. "Do a backflip off that table" Sam insists as he points to the table the boys had done a fight on before. Elton nods and stands up, get onto the table and stands on the edge. He jumps up and flips backwards, landing on his feet and after a moment he steadies himself. "Yeah!" Corey cheers as he holds his hand up for Elton to high five. "Truth or dare?" Elton asks as he high fives Corey then retakes his seat.
"Truth" I say as Elton glances at me. "Truth you say?" Elton says as he strokes his mini beard. "I know that Brad and company are terrible but there's something about you when they're around that just seems off. So Colby, what is that?" Elton's question hits me hard.
He noticed...
I glanced away for a moment. "What do you mean I act weird?" I ask curiously. "Oh come on you always seem like something bad is going to happen" Elton says as Corey and Sam nod in agreement. I run my hand through my hair nervously before answering with, "I was the bad guy at my old school... and once they invited me to join them... I kinda freaked out" I admit nervously.
"Someone please go next" I beg as Sam turns to me. "Dare" Sam says as I let out a sigh of relief. "I dare you to do an impression of your gender bend self" I dare him as he lets out a mixture of a laugh and a sigh.
He stands up and makes his way over to the pile of supplies we brought. His back is towards us but when he turns towards us he had put 2 balls on his chest making it looks likes boobs. "Hey guys! Samantha here" he says in a girly voice.
There was a moment of silence before we all broke out in laughed. "Samantha you slut" Corey laughed in a girl's voice.
How can it get better than this?
