Hi guys :) Beatrice here! I hope you enjoy this story!!
It's my first book so bear with me and comment how to improve <3
Just to make things clear the story is based on the perspective of Penny :-))
**********************************
The dagger stabbed through his chest and as I drew it out, blood splattered in all directions. Before I could give a finishing blow, I was struck on the back. I lost grip of my weapon, watching it glid along the wet bloody floor. It suddenly turned pitch black and all that is left was " connection lost. Please retry".
"AIDEN, WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" I exclaimed.
"Penny, come on. We have to go. The twins and Caspar are waiting at the round-about." Aiden replied. I put on my sports shoes, took my bag and followed Aiden . We got into Wesley's Fiat, (being the only car that can fit all 5 of us) and made our way to the cross country marathon we've been excited for months to go for. I sat by the window, looked out and saw dark clouds rolling in, covering the supposedly 'clear blue sky'.
By the time we arrived, the dry trail laid out for us was muddy and slippery. We went to register, got our numbers and did the same old warm-ups we do every single year.
We took our positions in front of the starting line. Some were dressed in cool costumes but the one I found most atrocious yet humorous was this group of runners dressed like characters in the popular game Mario, however some normal people, like us, wore proper running attire.
Boring, I know.
I've always wanted to dress up like any character from The Walking Dead but my friends, being unimaginative people felt it would be embarrassing. A piercing whistle was heard and everyone dashed pass the start line whilst spectators cheered.
Caspar, being the fastest amongst all of us, dashed ahead and disappeared into the deep forest.
Thank God for our lousytracking devices.
I still remembered there was this one time when Caspar ran so fast he strayed off the track and we could not find him. We informed the committee but we still could not track him. Bless the slow runner who found him. Apparently he got trapped in a porta-potty due to the jammed door. Not only the trackers were terribly useless, the would suddenly start beeping whenever they loosened from our shoelaces, which constantly scared us.
The rain started getting heavier and heavier. As I ran, the twins were bickering about who could run faster ignoring the rain.
Wesley started," Since you are a lady I will let you go first"
"shut up you chauvinistic pig! Afraid I will beat your ass like how I do in everything?" Wendy, his sister, replied feeling annoyed.
Whilst we ran, we found Caspar resting in a deserted post behind a fence. It was an ordinary wired fence with a hole in it. Like something rammed through the fence forcefully from the inside. With a bit of squeezing, the four of us made it through the fence. Ignoring the sign next to it.
