I still remember the day I first saw Tyler. It was the first day after school reopened, and we were all excited to start high school. I remember walking to school with Emma and our other friend Rachel, just talking about random things that concerned us in no way whatsoever. After we got there, we loitered around for a while waiting for the bell to ring. There was hugging, laughing, and there was screeching. It was like any other first day and I didn't expect it to be life-changing in any way.
Boy was I wrong.
5 minutes before the first bell, an unusual sight caught all of our attention. There was an extremely exhausted-looking old lady hugging a boy somewhat my age. There were tears in her eyes and she was shaking violently. The boy comforted her, muttered what I think was a good-bye and helped her get into a car. He waited till the car was out of sight and turned, took a deep breath and looked up and all I could think was " HOLY CAMOLI " because this guy could pass off as a demigod and no one would question it for one second.
He was tall, well-built and had blonde hair that got lighter with length. He was not overdressed- just a plain white t-shirt and faded blue jeans, but yet managed to look like an A&F model.
I brought my fingers up to my chin to make sure I wasn't drooling and quite honestly I was surprised I was not.
But what really made me go up to him was the fact that he looked so troubled, so damn vulnerable and so alone that I just wanted to ease the pain for him.
And that, Ladies and Gentlemen is how I, Jamie Sullivan, went up to the man I now loved and said "Hey, are you okay?"
