Will sat in his room, tapping a pencil against the paper sitting in front of him. It was a little after nine and he was trying to finish the last of his homework. He liked to get an early start, which is why he was doing his homework on a Friday night, so he could have the weekend to do what he wanted.

A tap on his window made Will jump and look. His eyes were wide with fear until he saw the cause of the noise.

Mike stood at the window. He smiled at Will and motioned to be let in. Will got up and walked to the window, pulling it open and helping Mike in.

"What are you doing here?" Will asked. "I thought you were supposed to hang out with Lucas tonight."

"I was," Mike told Will. "But he has to go somewhere in the morning so I couldn't sleep over like we planned."

"So why didn't you just go home?" Will questioned.

"Don't feel like it," Mike shrugged and sat on Will's bed. "I already told my mom I wouldn't be homes until tomorrow morning. And besides, I rather hang out with you."

"Is that so?" Will smiled and sat next to the taller boy.

"Of course, you are my favorite after all," Mike smiled.

"You're just saying that so I won't kick you out," Will joked. "Should I go tell my mom you're here?"

"You could," Mike laid back on the bed and yawned. "Or you could just let her find you in bed with me in the morning."

Will laughed at the thought, "I'm sure that'd work out beautifully."

"Go tell her and then we can do something together," Mike pushed Will a little in a playful manner.

"Sounds good to me."

Will walked out of his room and to his mother's room. Joyce was sitting in the couch, alongside Jonathan, watching a program on the television.

"Mom," Will called the attention from the tv to himself.

"What is it?" Joyce questioned.

"Mike's here, is it alright if he stays the night?" Will asked in response.

"He is?" Joyce raised an eyebrow at the boy. "I didn't even hear the door open. But yeah, of course he can stay."

"He came through my window," Will laughed a little at Mike's unconventional entrance into the Byers' house.

"He could've used the door," Joyce laughed as well. "Should I let his mom know where he is?"

Will shrugged, "you could. He told her he was at Lucas' because that was his original plan so she isn't expecting him home until tomorrow so it's your choice."

"Okay, sweetie, have fun," Joyce smiled.

Will nodded and walked back to his room.

When he entered the room, Mike was over at Will's desk, looking through his drawings.

"What are you doing?" Will asked, walking over to his friend.

"Just looking," Mike said, not looking up. "These are so good, Will."

"They're alright, I guess." Will shrugged and tried to take the drawings from Mike.

"No I mean it," Mike set the papers down and held Will's shoulders, looking him in the eyes. "You're a amazing and super talented."

The boys held each other's gaze for a moment, both of them receiving an alien feeling from each other. Will was the first to look away, Mike following suit a second later.

"Okay," Will nodded. "Now let's do something."

"What do you want to do?" Mike asked.

"I don't know," Will shrugged. "What do you want to do?"

"I don't know," Mike laughed. "That's why I asked you."

"Hmm I don't know," Will said. "We can always just sleep now and then do something in the morning."

"That's fine," Mike agreed.

The two boys changed into pajamas and got into Will's bed. There wasn't a whole lot of room so they had to lay close to one another, but they made it work.

Will turned off the lamp next to his bed and closed his eyes. Mike looked at Will in the darkness, admiring the boy's features. Mike felt that pulling feeling in his stomach again as he looked at Will. Something about Will made Mike feel different and he didn't understand it.

Will moved and Mike quickly closed his eyes. It wasn't long after that the two boys fully drifted off.
