TWENTY-SIX

"Mom you have to fight," Artemis says. I close my eyes.

I continue to write in the notebook. "Honey I can't fight anymore. I've been fighting for 3 years now," I reply.

Derek grabs my hand. I look at him. "Where did everyone go?" I ask.

"Theo made food," Derek answers. I smile.

I stop writing for a moment. "Come on honey let's go get something to eat," I say.

Artemis gets up. Everybody looks at me. Ethan stands up. Artemis goes over and hugs him. Theo looks at me but just hands me a plate.

Everybody stays quiet. "Lydia how's Allison doing?" I ask.

"Allison's great. She wanted to go stay at a friends house tonight," Lydia answers.

"That's nice. I swear they get big fast," I say. I take a bite of Theo's food. He made french toast and eggs.

I look at the plate. "So Alex. I heard that all the packs are coming tomorrow," Liam says.

"Yes I am. They're coming over because of a problem," I say.

"What's that problem?" Scott asks.

"When I die. I don't want the packs to divide. It took 5 years to get us all united again," I answer.

"So does that mean we're all going?" Theo asks.

"Yes," I answer.

"Where are we meeting at?" Lydia asks.

"The building I own downtown," I answer.

"What about food?" Theo asks.

"I have that covered. I have everything covered," I answer.

I start eating again. When I'm done I get up and sit down on the couch.

Everybody is in there. I start reading a book. "You know I never saw her read in my life until now. Which is really weird because she reads a lot of books," Stiles says.

I smile. Malia sits next to me. Scott by her. "Alex," Malia says. "I think we need to talk."

"About what?" I ask.

"If Scott and I could name our kid after you," Malia answers.

I smile. I hug her. "Congratulations," I say.

"So can we?" Scott asks.

"I'll agree only if it's their middle name. Not their first name," I answer. Scott smiles.

I hug Scott.

The Next Day
I stand up on the podium. "I'm very excited you all came," I say. "As all of you know because you can smell it. I'm dying."

There's chatter. "Quiet down."

It goes silent. "Talia Hale and I have put much work into uniting all the packs. When I die I don't want you to destroy the hard work we have put into this," I continue.

All the Alpha's stand up. Scott goes over and joins them. They stand down on a knee. "We promise that our packs will stand together until we die," Scott announces. I smile. I have a couple tears.

I wipe them away. I go stand next to them. I hug all of them. I look over and see Derek stand by them.

His eyes glowing red. I look confused. "Until death," he says.

"Thank you all," I say.

Then a sudden prang hits me. I ignore it. "Dinner will be right in," I say.
