CHAPTER 3

Mum said she would drop me off at school today. I didnt argue, The whole ride was silent, there was something she needed to tell me but she obviously didn't know how. I decided I didn't really want to know. So I turned the radio up and looked out the window, avoiding eye contact with her. When we got to the school, she turned the music off and looked at me and she said " Derek, There's something I need to tell you " I still didn't want to know  so I just nodded and looked down.

"Derek look at me now!" She snapped. I frowned and looked up at her. She had tears in her eyes. Something big had happened because she never cries infront of people. She was a strong person. I didn't know what to say or do, I never know what to do to comfort mum. She doesn't often need it.

" Its your brother.. His in hospital. His been shot and its critical... Derek He might die." ( Cameron dereks older brother is in the army like their dad had been.)

I was shocked. I couldn't believe our family was going to go through this agian and once agian there was nothing.. nothing i could do about it. " How critical?" I didn't recognise my own voice, I looked at her searching for the answer. She was just sitting starring out the window. "His in a coma" I closed my eyes and bowed my head. After my dad had been shot and was in a coma I know this wasn't going to end well. He was in his coma for six months. We defintely weren't ready for this again even is it had been five years. I'd begged Cameron not to be stupid and join the army after Dad but he didn't listen, he just did it what he always does. " Its Cameron Mum, He will be fine. Right!?"

She looked at me , I didnt look away this time,  I locked our eye contact and held her face in my hands and wiped her tears away, she closed her eyes. My cheeks were wet, Fųck I can't cry I quickly wipped them dry. The last time I cried was when they turned dads machines off. " I have to go to school mum, I'm late. I will be home late! Are you telling the others tonight?"

I have two younger sisters. Ones called Sammy she's 11 and theres the youngest Bonnie whos 9.

" Ermm, I was going to leave it a couple of days."

"Ok Mum we will do it together ok?"

" Yeah ok. Love you."

"love you too mum."

As I got out of the car I decided that I wasn't going to let this affect me at school, I was going to try and forget everything that had happened in the past 12 hours. The only thing I definitely couldn't stop  thinking about the girl from last night and if she had woken up yet and gone back to where ever she came from, where ever that was. The corridors were quite. Shit, I really was late. I stood in the door of the class room. There was Dylan with this hugh smile on his face, I smiled to myself, I love that smile. There was Matilda looking between dylan and something at the front of the classroom, as I looked to see what they were looking at. My face dropped, it was the girl that had attacked me last night.

She smiled at me, acting as if she had never seen me before. She stopped smiling and looked down and then slowly tilted her head up looking at dylan and smiled agian. Dylan frowned at me and returned her smile. Matilda rised her eyebrows and sort of laughed and shock her head at me.

I jumped at my teacher's voice "nice of you to join us Mr. Hale" I shrugged at him and sat down, he finished introducing her. I looked at Dylan who was arguing with Matilda about something, she huffed and The teacher said " who's going to look after Miss Stilinski?" Matilda raised her hand " I will sir" She pulled a sickly sweet smile. It made me feel better to see her smile even if it was fake. I laughed becuase I knew our teacher will be shocked and worried, Matilfda doesn't shine very well to new people , she can be a bit of a bitch to new people sometimes before she gets to know them. I've seen it so many times I guess she just doesn't trust people very well. It took me a long while to gain her trust, I catched her looking at me a couple of time so I asked her out. But it took me a long time to get her to open up to me but after awhile she did.

The teacher was talking to Matilda about Elijah. After a while he finished quiestioning Matilda and let Elijah sit down, Who was standing there awkwardly listening to them talk about her. The lesson went on for what felt like forever. When bell rang I jumped out of my seat and waited outside for the others. I couldn't stop thinking about what happened last night through the whole lesson and that she was sitting less than a metre away from me. Dylan and elijah finally came out of the room and stood infront of me. "Derek, you look terrible!"

"Thanks man" I didn't know what to do. So I tried to act normal but I realised Matilda wasn't with us I frowned at looked befind Dylan and Elijah to see if she was behind them but she wasn't. Thats weird she was in the class like 5 minutes ago, where's she gone? " Where's Matilda?" Dylan looked down at the floor refusing to look at me. Elijah replied " ermm... She said she had some bit's to do" Ha, I knew she was lieing the minute she said it and Dylan knew I wouldn't believe that bullshit.

" Who's it this time then?" I was looking at dylan, my eyes burn into the side of his head dylan lifted his head but he didn't look at me in the eyes properly. " Dylan man. Answer me already?!"

"Jc Caylen." The name hit me hard. Everyone Knows that Jc wasn't the type of person to do one night stands. This was for real. She had left me. Properly this time. " How long?"

" Derek.."

" No Dylan tell me now!" I was serious, the way he was taking his time with this was starting to take the piss. He was acting as though I couldn't handle it. Maybe I can't, Maybe when it sinks in properly I will break down.

" They have been together pretty much since you left." That hurt even more. Had she waited till I'd gone? She's a coward, she couldn't even tell me. God, do I really seem that weak to people? All I could think about was that Dylan hadn't  told me this any earlier.

" Dylan? Are you serious? and you didn't think about telling me yesterday? Were you just going to let me make a fool out of myself? Some friend you are." I regretted it the minute I said it. I should of taken it back but I didn't, infact I didn't want to. Elijah looked at me, she looked hacked off but to be honest I didn't care about what she had to say.

" Hey, That wasn't fair" Ha, she thinks she can talk to me like that? After what she did and Dylan obviously didnt know that truth about 'what she was'.

" Don't worry babe. Look Derek, She told me she was going to tell you. You know what she's like with relaionships! It won't last much longer I promise" I just looked at him for a couple of secounds, thinking about what I was going to say to him.

"Don't make a promise you can't keep" And with that I turned around and walked away I didn't want to talk to him about it anymore, I could deal with all of this at the same time.
