While one day toying with her wand, Star had accidentally created a rift in time.
Marco had walked in while the rift had torn open
Marco: STAR, WHAT DID YOU DO THIS TIME?!
Star: I- I don't know, m-m- My wand did that on its own this time!
Marco: STAR I-IT'S GETTING BIGGER!
Star: Oh no
*Explosion*
Marco had been sucked in the rift, Star had followed along.
When the explosion had hit, Marco had gotten hit in the head with falling rubble, his head had an open wound, blood was slowly pouring out of his now cracked skull. Star had formed a bubble around themselves. expending most of her energy trying to heal Marco, she had then fallen asleep.
During the transition in the rift, changes neither of them would expect would then follow suit.
