After getting ready she grabbed her purse and went out to the hallway to meet up with everyone, locking the door behind her since Rydel was already ready and waiting. She found that almost everyone was mulling around the hallway waiting to regroup. As she approached them she adjusted her clothes and suddenly realized just how mortifying this whole night would be for her. Her combat boots, streaks of hot pink temporary hair dye and ultra shinny lip gloss were not her typical accessories by any means and were far from her comfort zone. She had been forced into it and truthfully it all made her feel extremely uncomfortable in her own skin.

As she approached them, Rocky happened to look over and was the first to notice her. “Yeowza! Look what we got over here, guys.” At that moment the entire group looked to her. She felt her stomach churn and momentarily wanted to hide in a deep hole for all of eternity.

“Whoa, you look like you had a fight with Rydel’s closet.... and you lost.” Riker held back his laughter as best he could, but before long he started to snicker. She noticed that he wasn’t the only one.

She put her hand in her hip and gave a bored look, “Shut the hell up. All of you.”

“No! I mean you look really good, Jess. It works on you.” Riker insisted.

Ryland and Ross were the last to walk up and join the group.

Ross glanced around, “Hey, whats so fun-ah whoa Jess what the hell happened to you?” his expression went to shock mid sentence.

“Your sister happened to me. That's what.”

Ross began to chuckle. Rydel suddenly pulled away from her phone, “Hey guys, cut it out! She looks cute and you all know it. You’re just not man enough to admit it because she’s like a sister or something.”

“Can we please just go now, please?” Jessica motioned down the hall. They all started walking toward the elevator as the communal chuckling started to die down. As they made their way down to the lavish hotel lobby she grew ever more anxious as she wondered if that incident was any indication of how the rest of the evening was going to go.

A pair of two oversized vans pulled up to sweep them away to what she assumed would be some small, trendy place to eat dinner. Nothing too mainstream for this gang. They wanted low lighting, live music, good food and a bit of privacy if at all possible. When they were out of the town they were always looking for off the map and out of this world when it came to culinary experiences.

As they drove through the busy city traffic she was starting to get a feel for what her life was going to be like for the next few weeks and it exhausted her to think about it. No more compact cars. No more intimate gatherings. No more quiet nights in. No more privacy. Her life as she knew it had literally been put on hold and it felt as if she had entered another vortex or dimension of space and time. She wasn’t in the “real” world anymore; she was in the “rockstar” world. And she wasn’t exactly sure just yet how well that would grow on her. But like it or not, she was stuck.

The van pulled off into the gutter and came to a complete stop. The heavy sliding door suddenly opened with a loud thunk and all the occupants began to hurriedly exit one by one out onto the sidewalk. As soon as they got out, they all jogged into the restaurant as they noticed that it was raining pretty good by now, not to mention that people were beginning to notice the commotion and were starting to gather.

In record time they all made it into the building and were quickly escorted near the back to a couple of large tables that were already set up and waiting for its group of occupants. It all happened so quickly she hardly had time to blink but before she knew it the waitress was standing beside her waiting to take her drink order.
