Chapter 7
Chace's POV
"He likes me?" Ella asks in disbelief.
"Ya and I guess Hunter does too." I say to her.
"Are you sure he wasn't talking about some other girl, because there was one in his room this morning and he seemed pretty into her." She tells me.
"Ella. He's liked you since before this summer. He uses sex and alcohol and drugs as a way out. Away from liking you when he knows he will never be good enough for you." I explain to her.
"Wait he does drugs and drinks alcohol!" She says in shock.
"He said he was going to tell you."
"Well he hasn't. Oh my gosh my summer is going to be so complicated now. Two boys who happen to be brothers. I don't want to hurt either one of them." Ella tells me. "Who would you pick if you were in my position?"
"I don't want influence your decision." I say.
"What if it was between my friends Gabriella and Isabella?" She asks me.
"Ok what does that have to do with Austin and Hunter?" I reply.
"I don't know. Can we pretend we never had this conversation please?"
"Sure; but I'll be here if you ever want to talk." I tell her.
"I know. Well can we get our ice-cream now. I mean we are here now." She tells me.
"Why yes we can, dear sister." I say making her laugh.
"Hey Margret!" Ella says to the lady at the counter.
"Ella! Chace! First time coming to the diner this summer!" Margret says to Ella and I. "What can I get you guys?"
"Ice-cream! What else Margret!" Ella says to Margret.
"Ok Ella good point. So chocolate-mint-chip for Ella and tiger-tale for Chace."
"Margret you know us to well." I say to her.
"What can I say you've been coming here for a long time I think I know all of your orders by now." She tells us.
She walks to the back and soon comes out with mine and Ella's ice-cream. The way that Ella's face still lights up the way it did when our mom and Samantha first bought this place and we were here for our first summer, and she got her first ice-cream here. This has always been one of her favorite places to come, even if us guys weren't always that nice to her.
The second summer we came here we thought it would be funny to put sand in her hair and say it was a crab. She ran home from the beach and us boys got in so much trouble. The fifth summer we told her we were playing hide-n-seek but then we just left we just left her there for almost an hour. She was only 8 at the time.
I love my sister. All three of us boys do, but us boys will be boys, and we will leave the girl behind.
Well only if it is my sister. We do get girlfriends sometimes.
"Chace can we walk back to the house now?" She asks making me lose my train of thought.
"Ya I guess we can." I tell her. "Bye Margret!"
"Bye kids. Tell your families I say hi! And be safe." She yells as we walk out the door, ice-cream still in our hands.
"Um why doesn't Austin just tell me instead of just watching me go out with Hunter." Ella asks when start walking.
"I don't know why does any guy not tell the girl he likes that he has feelings for her?" I reply.
"I guess you're right." She says. "But some guys, like Hunter, are able to right?"
"Do you remember when I was in eighth grade, you were in fifth, and I asked that girl Kayla out and I was so nervous then she shot me down and a week later she was dating Max." I say to her.
"Yes you were upset and I didn't exactly know why because I was 10."
"Well that shows why I don't like asking girls out anymore. I know that's not an excuse, but maybe that's why Austin doesn't want to ask you out like Hunter did." I explain to her.
"And yet he can sleep with every girl on the block. Yes that makes total sense."
"Ella you're different then most girls. You are not pulled in by good looks and a cocky attitude. You aren't afraid to speak your mind, and you're pretty good at sports. A lot of guys would be intimidated by a girl like you."
"Oh great now you are saying that I'm some stupid person who's going to most likely die alone." She says getting a bit defensive.
"That is not what I'm saying at all! What I'm saying is that you just need to find the right guy who will respect you. And maybe it will be Hunter or Austin. I mean you are only 15." I tell her.
"Ya and once again you are probably right. What am I going to do after this summer you're going to be in university and I won't have your wisdom anymore." She says with a little giggle.
"You will call me and we will solve your issue." I tell her.
"How did I get such a wonderful brother? Well you're wonderful once you get passed the fact that you are a boy." She says and sticks her tongue out at me like a five-year-old.
"Oh Ella. Dearest Ella. I'm the best brother you could ever have." I say making us both laugh.
"If you are the best brother ever then I am the best sister ever." She tells me.
"Why Ella you are. Even if us guys do pick on you, and tease you sometimes. Honestly you're my little sister. I just don't want you to get hurt."
"Thank you Chace!" She says, hugs me, and walks away.
I walk up to my room and sit on my bed. I pick my phone up and make a call to Alice Barlow. She's been my girlfriend for about 3 months now but I haven't told my sister, parents, or even Austin and Hunter.
I dial her number and wait while the phone rings.
"Hello?" She answers one the third ring.
"Is this-a Alice. I'm-a lookin' to-a talk-a to her?" I say in my best Italian accent making Alice laugh.
"I don't-a know of-a Alice around here-a." She says mimicking my Italian accent.
"How are you babe?" I ask.
"I'm good. You?"
"I'm ok. I'm trying to help Ella. Both Austin and Hunter like her, and Hunter is taking her on a date tonight." I explain to her.
"Ouch. That's gotta burn. Imagine having an older brother and him taking me away. That would sting a bit." She tells me.
"Don't even let me think of anyone taking you away Miss. Barlow." I say to her and we both laugh.
We talk for about 30 minutes then I hang up the phone because it's getting close to dinner time. I get up to go downstairs when I hear a loud BANG!
(A/N: Ahahaha left you with a cliff-hanger. What do you think the BANG! was? Who should play Chace's girlfriend? Leave comments with guesses and suggestions. How do you like the story so far? Already quite a few twists and turns for the gang already. Well until next time.
