Authors Note:
Hello, this is the first story/fanfic I have ever written so please be nice. I apologize for all spelling and grammar errors. I accept constructivie critiscism so let me know what you think. The boys of One Direction are more original characterish than I wanted them too be. I hope you like the story.
Chapter One:
Today was the beginning of my life. I was going to continue the family tradition and attend college. My parents strongly believed in a formal education. My father was a doctor and my mother was a cliche stay at home suburban housewife. They were the “perfect parents”.
All my life I have been sheltered. My parents choose what I watched, what I wore, what I read.I know they just want to protect me but sometimes it feels like I can’t even breath. My parent's love is choking me. But I shouldn’t complain, other people have it worse. I’m excited to go to college and make my own decisions. My parents wanted me to get a bachelors degree in medicine but I refused because I want to do something that I have passion for. I want to love what I do, so I’m majoring in photography. My parents aren’t exactly happy about it but my brother Greg is majoring in medicine so at least they have one child who didn’t disappoint them.
“Niall, honey, wake up! We have arrived at the college!”, my mother, Maura, shouted from the passenger seat of our white Audi RS4.
I open my eyes and blink the sleep away. Outside the car window is the University of Birmingham. The red brick institute stood tall and proud. The windows were high and arched, glistening in the sunlight. The grass was fresh and green. It was perfect here. All around the campus, there were people. I had never seen so many in my life. In my small home town of Mullinger, everyone knew everyone.
I get out of the car and walk around to the trunk.I pop it open and grab my packed away possessions. My father comes around to help me while my mother wanders off to find the boy’s dorm.
We find my dorm room, number 221b, with the help of a Resident Advisor. The walls are painted beige. There are two twin beds, one on each side of the room. There’s a window above the headboard of the bed on the left side and another on the right side bed’s wall. Sadly there’s no closet but the beds have drawers that slide out.
“This is nice, I love the color beige don’t you Niall?”My mum voices.
“Uh...yeah.”I reply.
“Well do you need any help unpacking darling? I can help you make your bed or put your clothes away?”, she asks.
“No thanks mum. You should probably get going its already 6:00 and it’s a long drive home.”
“Alright muffin. Promise you’ll call tomorrow. I love you.” My mum says as she starts to tear up.
I rush to her side and hug her. “I will call tomorrow, don’t worry. I love you, too.”
My father joins the hug. “Be safe Niall, don’t do anything you’ll regret. We love you son.”
We all pull away. I kiss my mum goodbye and hug my father one more time. My dad leaves the room while my mum sticks around for a little longer. She opens her purse and tells me to close my eyes. I obey.
“You can open them now.”
When my eyes snap open she has a box wrapped in silver paper with a blue bow on top. “Oh mum, you didn’t have too!”
“Yes I did. Go on and open it now.” She says.
I grab the gift and tear through the paper. It’s a baby blue Fujiflim Instax Mini 8.“Mum it’s beautiful, thankyou,”I breathe out. I never thought she approved of my love for photography like my father.
She smiles, the corners of her eyes crinkling. “You're welcome, sweetheart.”
“Alright I better go honey, I love you!”
“Love you too.”
Mother leaves and I’m left to unpack my things. I grab my blue bedding and make my bed. I hang up fairy lights around the ceilings perimeter, I hope my roommate doesn’t mind. I organize my clothes into the drawers. Finally the room looks more homey. I lie on my bed and look out the window. Across from my dorm building (Dorm B) is Dorm A. I can see into the window across from mine. The room looks the same inside. I catch a glimpse of curly brown hair. Just as the person steps into view, my door opens. In steps a tall muscular guy with warm brown eyes and a buzz cut. He was so gorgeous.I think I might be drooling.
“Take a picture, it lasts longer.”He says. I can feel a deep red blush painting my pale cheeks.
“Sorry.” I hope he’s not a cheeky person.
“Just kidding mate, I’m Liam Payne.”
I let out a relieved sigh. “My names Niall Horan. I mean no offence but you don’t look like a freshman.”
“None taken. I’m a sophomore. What are you majoring in?”, Liam asks with genuine curiosity.
“Uh, photography, you?”
“Music technology.”
Liam and I continue to get to know each other while he settles in. He likes disney movies,he has two older sisters, and he has a strange fear of spoons. Liam is a nice guy. I’m glad that my room mate is someone I can get along with.
“So there’s this beginning of the year party that Beta Kappa is hosting tonight, do you wanna come?”
“I don’t know, a party on a school night?”
“Come on Niall, it’s like a right of passage.” Liam begs.
“Oh why not, I guess it would be fun.”I give in.
“Awesome, do you need to change your clothes.”
I look down at what I’m wearing.I have on blue jeans, a white shirt, and white converse.“What’s wrong with what I have on?”
“Nothing, you look good. Just wondering.”
Liam rifles through his drawers looking for a different shirt. I turn away when he begins to take his shirt off.
“You can look now.” I turn and Liam is grinning at me. I smile back.
“Are you ready to go?”He asks.
“Yeah.”
