I don't exactly remember why she was crying, all I knew is that I wanted to help her.
My name is Spencer Allen and this is my senior year experience at Evencrest High school. Let me take you back a week before this moment happened.
It was the first day of senior year. Another year that I get to sit back and admire Mya Abrams from a far. When I arrived at school I was greeted by my two close friends Max, and Luke. Max, Luke, and I have been friends ever since I moved here in grade 1. They are aware of my crush on Mya and they both think I'm totally crazy for wasting 4 years of crushing on her.
The first day of school always sucks. All we do is talk and get introduced into the course and getting to know one another. Most people love the first day because of this, but me not so much. I don't talk to many people, mostly just Max and Luke.
I suffer through my first two classes and after what felt like eternity, lunch is finally here. I usually meet my friends in the cafeteria but they had a meeting for the freshman tour. They signed up to help freshmen around our school or something like that.
I ended up sitting in the cafeteria by myself, going over the notes for this unit in science. I thought I'd get a head start and do some of the pages in the book to kill time. It was pretty hard to focus most of the time because students would walk by and shout things like "loser, get some friends!" or "get a life loser".
When the bell rings I get up and begin to walk to my English class when the schools biggest asshole, Alex Donovan, smacks my books out of my hands.
"Watch where you're going Tinkerbell" he says.
"Why don't you watch where you're going, dick head" I reply.
"What did you just say to me?" he said, tensing up his neck.
"You heard me, what are you gonna do about it?" I reply with a smirk.
"Come on Alex, don't waste your time on this freak" said one of the guys from his group.
"I'll get you next time" he said, glaring at me before turning around and walking away.
After picking up my papers I walked into my English class 5 minutes late.
"Ah, Mr. Allen, so nice of you to join us. You can take a seat at the front of the room right next to Miss Abrams" My teacher Mr. John said.
I didn't move. I just stared at my teacher with a blank stare.
"Well, lets go I have some papers to hand out" he said.
I snapped out of my stare and slowly walked over to the empty desk. I slightly turned away from her to avoid any conversation. It's not that I didn't want to talk to her, cause trust me I did, but I couldn't. One, because her boyfriend is the asshole that I just had a small altercation with in the hall, and two because I can't exactly talk to girls when I like them.
"Okay class! We're starting this course off with poetry. I know it's the first day and youre all going to hate me for this, but your homework for tonight is to write a poem and we will be presenting them tomorrow" Mr. John began. He was cut off by the many groans of students. "I know, I know, but I'm giving you this period and tonight, and I don't want a poem about a leaf, I want it to mean something to you. Make it about someone special, or your mom, or maybe your dog!" He continued.
He was cut off again by a student shouting from the back of the room "What if a leaf means a lot to me?" "Well, then make it good" he simply replied.
I began to zone out and ignore my surroundings when I began to brainstorm ideas. All that seemed to pop into my head was Mya. I figured I'd go with it, I mean, she'd never find out... right?
Before I knew it the bell rang and it was finally last period. My last period class was drama and all we did was ice breaking activities which made the class fly by. When the bell rang I met Max and Luke at Luke's locker and we all walked home together.
