'Finally finished' I think to myself as I pack my stuff up. I look down at my watch and see my clock read 12:50am
"Shit" I say. I have 25 minutes to ditch Elijah, run to Tommy's, get dressed then run over to the casino.
"Elijah" I call out calmly an he enters my office. "I'm going to ditch you again" I tell him and he didn't look to happy with the idea. "I thought I would give you some warning this time" I tell him
"Jade knowing what I'm protecting you from has just made me more protective I can't let you ditch me" he says
"I have to. Elijah I promise you that if I am in any kind of danger I'll ring you" I say. I had to persuade him without telling him the truth.
"What if you can't get to a phone fast enough?" He says
"I will be with a friend. He can contact you" I tell him
"What your friend T?" He says in annoyance
"Yes" I say
"I don't know him therefore I don't trust him" Elijah says
"Wait" I say and I head over to my desk. "T gave me this a while back as a joke birthday present" I say fishing out a button. It was small with a little clip on the back.
"I push this button your phone will be notified. It will send you my current location and then track me as soon as I push it" I tell him.
"Ok I feel a little better about you ditching me" he says
"Give me your phone" I say. I downloaded the needed app, I also add in my phone number and send myself a text message so I had his.
"See" I say pushing the button. Elijah's phone buzzes and he nods in approval
"Push that to stop the signal and reset the button" I show him.
"Ok don't ditch me here. We need to make it look like a ditching" he says and I smile up at him.
"Thank you" I say and he waits outside my office. Elijah has just become better and better the more I talk to him. Firstly he looks like a god, secondly he can patch up a wound 10 times better then Tommy. Probably because Elijah has had training and Tommy learnt from google. Thirdly he cared enough to bring me food and listen to me talk. Now he's compromising with me and letting me ditch him. I leave the office and head downstairs. Elijah puts up the umbrella and I get into the car.
"Let's stop for a pretzel" I suggest. Elijah stops the car. "Wait here I won't be long" I say and I jump out the car. I walk at a normal pace until Elijah couldn't see me anymore. That's when I ran even though Elijah said I could ditch him doesn't mean he wouldn't follow me.
I knock on Tommy's door and he opens it and let's me in.
"About time. You have 15 minutes to change and get to the casino which is a ten minute walk." Tommy says
"I know" I say running into his room to change. I clip on the panic button that I told Elijah I would keep on me to my boot and I go back out to Tommy.
"You took way too long" he says I only had ten minutes. I shove my ear piece in that Tommy gave to me.
"I had to take my hair out" I say readjusting my mask.
"You're going to be late and that won't look good" Tommy says.
"Just hack the cameras and check the area" I order him. "I'll be taking the motor cycle tonight" I smirk
"It was towed two weeks ago" Tommy says
"Yeah towed to Nicks place who keeps all my cars" I say flicking the back of his head
"Sorry I forgot" he says and I roll my eyes. I head to Nicks scrap yard which was only a minute walk away from Tommy's place.
"They have a couple snipers on near by roof but Lawrence looks alone" Tommy says into my ear piece.
"Nicky" I smile as he comes over
"J-bird" he smiles and hugs me.
"I need my motor cycle please" I ask and he fetched it for me
"Stay safe" Nicky shouts as I ride off. Nicky was my dads best friend but we were close. He's the only other person who knows I'm The Raven other then Tommy.
I managed to make it to the roof just in time.
"You came" Detective Lawrence says
"Of course I did" I say in my disguised voice.
"So will you help us?" He asks
"I see you brought some friends Don't you trust me" I say look directly at the buildings with the snipers on.
"How the hell did you know they were there?" He asks surprised
"I'm good. If you want my help we do it alone. I don't want snipers, people in your ear or trackers. I won't hurt you, you know that" I tell him.
"My superiors won't allow that" he says
"Then convince them" I simply say turning to leave
"Wait" He says and I turn back around
"Yes?" I ask
"You help people, you're The Raven the one who saves, who protects. You're telling me you won't help me because I didn't come alone" he says. I smirk at him and he looks at me confused
"I was testing you Detective. I wanted to see how committed you were to this case. You have 5 minutes to get everything you have on this case up to this roof." I tell him and I parkour up some walls to get onto a slightly raised part of the roof. I sit up there and wait five minutes.
"Raven we have the files and the evidence" the detective calls up to me and I jump down.
"There's not a lot" I say surprised
"Why do you think our leads went dry" he says handing me the single box.
"You were in contact with one of my contacts" I say
"Yes she didn't give her name" The detective says
"If you need me contact me on this number. That girl shouldn't have called you. I told her to stay out of it but she never listens" I tell him
"You two sound close" The detective says
"Not really. I just saved her life once." I say.
"Very well" the Detective says
"I won't work with your guys. I will only speak to you" I tell him as he nods I take that as my cue to leave.
