It was a Thursday afternoon and you had just gotten home from another grueling day at school. You were on your second to last year and honestly you were tired of going to school everyday. Your friend had just dropped you off and honestly you were in a good mood. If only it had stayed that way.

Walking into the house you didn't think much about the fact that only one of your dogs had come to greet you. You knew your other dog was getting old and it would be a moment before sje would come to see you. You let your younger dog in and thats when you knew something was wrong. Once you did you searched the whole house trying to find your dog that you've lived with for a little over 6 years.

"Y/D/N" you called as you worriedly searched the house. Your dog wasn't in the house. As you were walking upstairs from the basement when you got a call from your mom.

You walked to the back porch because thats the only place where people could hear you when they called. The second you accepted the call you asked with a lump in your throat and tears in your eyes, "where's my dog?"

The next words that came out of your moms mouth were probably the hardest words to hear. "Y/D/N isn't doing well. I think its time."

Tears came to your eyes and you held back sobs as your mom explained to you that the dog you have loved for 6 years was going to have to be put down because she apparently had a stroke earlier that morning when you had went to school and could no longer stand or hold her head up right. It hurt. It really hurt.

Your mom said she would pick you up so you could go with her to take y/d/n to the vet to be put down. Once the call ended the tears came freely and sobs left you mouth. You could barely breath as you cried, but you continued to cry.

Your other dog started barking at you and you reassured her you were fine. You knew it didn't work though. After a moment you got another call, this time from your grandma trying to calm you down before you saw your dog again. It didn't help at all though and it honestly made you feel worse. Your grandma and aunt both said that they loved you and ended the call.

You were still trying to calm your breathing when the front door opened and your mom came through the door holding your dog in her arms. The sight of your dog, the one you had spent everyday with for all these years with, not able to stand or hold her up straight was torture. The only thing you cared about was soothing your dog and making sure she didn't try to stand.

Looking at her now was even worse than hearing about how bad she was. She was laying on the floor she had spent so many days and nights on in your room and you were on the floor with her. The only thing you could do was pet her as you cried.

Moments later the doorbell rang and you didn't move. You couldn't move. A few seconds later your aunt walked in the room and sat next to y/d/n on the opposite side of you. She also started petting y/d/n as your grandma took a seat on the bed behind you and rubbed your shoulders. It didn't help at all and it made you cry harder than you already were.

Your mom was talking to you aunt and grandma when the doorbell rang. Your mom went to check the door and it was your neice and her babysitter. You couldn't be bothered and sat with your dog. Your grandma took your neice with her and your aunt and left, along with the babysitter, after giving you more condolences.

Once they were gone your mom told you to get your jacket seeing as it was getting chilly. You got up on shaky legs and quickly got your jacket and put it on while grabbing your phone as well. Your mom told you to grab her phone and purse so you grabbed those also before making your way back to the entrance where your mom now stood with your dog in her arms.
