Author's Note: Oh boy. Would Heather Duke and Pearl's ship name be Puke?

"Fuck me gently with a chainsaw!" Heather cursed somewhat daintily as she kicked the tire of her broken down jeep. She took a cigarette out of her pack, lighting it as she scoffed. "Of course you had to break down in the middle of nowhere!"

"Excuse me, miss? Are um.. are you alright?" A svelte woman asked her, coming out of nowhere. She had an odd skin colour... like, a pearl complexion.

"Yes! Of course I'm fine! My car broke down hours from home and I don't know anyone here!" Duke yelled in frustration, sitting on the hood of the jeep. "Stupid jeep."

The woman flinched. "Okay, well... let's just, calm down, okay? I'll help you sort this out. My name is Pearl, and I'm a Crystal Gem."

Heather was about to snap back at her, but those last two words threw her off. Crystal Gem? What the fuck? "Um... okay. Not sure what a Crystal Gem is, but sounds important. How much will it cost? I don't have any money." She admitted shamefully.

"Won't cost you anything. What's your name? And I mean... it might cost like a favour, I don't know, but I think no cost. It might take a few days." Pearl said as she calculates the different factors. "Definitely a day or so. Hm."

"Dammit. I should have been better prepared! I should have saved the money I had for here." Heather's stomach turned with anxiety and nausea, not noticing that Pearl was trying to talk to her, until the Gem grabbed her.

"I'm pretty sure there's room where I live." Pearl also had another motive. This grumpy human was intriguing. She was really pretty. Also, she couldn't just leave her stranded. "Like, on the couch. And obviously would be for a short amount of time."

"Fine. Do you have a phone I can call a towtruck with?" Heather asked, shame filling her for depending on this stranger. But she had to admit, Pearl was gorgeous. Pearl got her the phone, and the towtruck got the jeep into the shop, and managed to pull a favour as she literally saved the mechanic's life last week. As it turns out, it will take a night before it's functional.

"Heather? There's still daylight... and lots of places to go." Pearl said. Heather looked up from her fingers, and walked off with the gem. Pearl had opened up a whole new side of beach city for Heather. She made the city seem more... personal, rather than a vacation spot. And also managed to make Heather laugh. At the end of the day, they went to Pearl's house. If you could call it a house. It looked more like a temple.

"I'm exhausted." Heather stated as she dropped onto the couch. "Thank you, Pearl."

"No problem, Heather. Now you get some sleep." She gave Heather a kiss on the head without thinking. "I- Um, sorry."

"No, no, it's fine. Thank you, once again." As she curled up to go to sleep, she found herself almost wanting to stay in beach city. The next morning, Pearl woke up Heather, with a brown paper bag, and a smile. "Unnnhhh... what time is it?"

"11 Am. The car shop called. Your jeep is ready." Pearl said, a small frown on her face. "I'll walk you there..."

"Thank goodness." Heather breathed a sigh of relief, but as they walked in silence, she couldn't help feel guilty. After about ten minutes, they get to the car shop, and awkwardly, Heather tried to say goodbye. "So um..
Guess this is where we part ways?"

"Guess so." Pearl said softly, and then her eyes lit up. "Wait, maybe! Maybe you can um... come back to beach city?"

"Uhh sure! Sounds good. Thanks for all your help, Pearl. I won't forget you. I had a great time." As Heather got into her car, she had a jolting feeling. She wasn't straight. "Also um.. you've helped me figure some things out. I'll see you around, Miss Gem."

"You too, Miss Duke." Pearl chuckled before heading home. Maybe she could feel what she felt for Rose, but with Heather.
