Hello, friends! Sorry I haven't been posting a whole lot, I've been busy obsessing over fandoms 0-0 Anyways, enjoy this chapter!!

Tyler Dean

Math class. The very definition of hell itself. Sorry Mr. Rosoni, (What kind of a name is that anyway?) I'm just not passionate about combining letters with numbers to create answers.

I lay one side of my chin into my right hand. My palm starts to slide up my face. Am I falling asleep? I yank my head up. Stay awake, Tyler!

It's not so boring. It's kinda cool that they added numbers into math! I give up. Who am I kidding? Certainly not myself. Let's face it, algebra is just about as intriguing as my mom discussing a conversation she had with one of her "girlfriends" at work about how fat the head cheerleader from high school has gotten and how they wonder if all of her diet is carbs.

"I'll leave you to those worksheets," he finishes. Cody isn't here. This is his first absence this year. For being one of us, the "jocks" as we're thought of, he's pretty punctual.

I think about what to do. Hold on, that girl sits next to me doesn't she? I look to my right, and sure enough, there she is. "Hello, Sunshine," I say. Instantly, she looks up.

"Hey, Ty." Ty? Ty. I like that. Surprisingly, no one has really called me that before, not even Cierra. "Oh, wait...do you mind me calling you Ty?"

"That's fine. I'm okay with nicknames," I assure her with a wink. She smiles from ear to ear. "So can you...help me understand what in the world this means?"

"Monomials. This is review, so it shouldn't be too hard to explain, I guess. So, to add them together, you combine the like terms. The first one is easy. Combine the 2x with the 4x and you have 6x. Then there is 5x^2 combined with 3x^2. You have 8x^2. You end up with 6x8x^2."

"Oh, okay," I respond. Moving onto the next question, I think of what she just said. It suddenly makes sense. "How do you explain things so well?" I ask incredulously.

She shrugs, smiling.

I end up finishing the work sheet five minutes before the end of the period. "So...what type of music do you like?" I ask her after I am done.

She gives me a blank stare. "Well...you've probably never heard of these bands...or heard their music...well and you'd probably not like them..."

"I could surprise you." She nods with an "I guess so" look on her face. "We'll there's Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce the Veil, Breaking Benjamin, Skillet..." she trails off.

Leaning close to her ear, a smirk creeps into my face. "All my friends think I like rap music, but in all honestly, I can't stand it. What's your favorite Sleeping With Sirens song?" I whisper.

I back away to face the shocked stare. "You...Tyler Dean...the most popular guy in school...football player, jock...listen to Sleeping With Sirens?" she questions in a voice that is quiet but taken aback.

I nod. It's a secret I have kept for years and she is the only person I've told. Why I'm trusting her not to tell and not my best friends or my girlfriend I'm not sure. I could just never bring myself to enjoy rap when there is real music out there.

She shakes away her surprise. "With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear. That's my favorite," she tells me.

"That song is great! I think my favorite is A Trophy Father's Trophy Son." She nods and smiles. "Yeah, I love that one too!"

Maybe I have more in common with her than I had thought.

Yeah I did that. Don't judge. Please. I just felt like making him have a mini secret, so why not that? Anyway, I hope you liked it! Also, you should TOTALLY check out With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear and A Trophy Father's Trophy Son bc they're AMAZING songs. K bai!
