Interview with @vellichor_
*
What is your username?
A. vellichor_, but I like to go by Janie.
When did you join Wattpad? And for how long have you been writing (in general)?
A. I think I joined a year ago, I think. That's what the thing on my profile says, anyway. In all, I've been writing for six years. I actually wasn't much of a writer back then, more of a reader, but eventually I kept thinking that I should somehow make a "better" book, which was very vain of myself now.
What can you tell us about the current story you’re working on? Tell us a little about the plot and the characters in it?
A. I have this terrible habit where I would jump from one story to the other. I hate it, but I can't stop doing it! Currently, I'm working on this story called A Brief Manifesto . It's an experimental piece of fiction where this woman named Jamie is working on a "podcast". The entire story is her directly communicating with the reader. Jamie is an interesting character, but I can't reveal too much.
Why do you think the readers should read your story (mention the factors which will be appealing to the readers)?
A. I think it would be great to read when you're in slump. I'm aiming for it to be a rather uplifting story since it was based on a time when I was feeling something doleful. I hope you connect to her as she goes through her journey.
Which is your favorite character, in the current story you are working on?
A. This is a bit odd, but Jamie is the only character in A Brief Manifesto since it's only her talking. I'm thinking of bringing in another character to host the show when she's not there. I like Jamie because she tries to be so happy and helpful sometimes, but she always comes off as cynical or awkward. It's endearing to me, and it was rather fun to create her.
How many stories have you posted on Wattpad (excluding short stories)?
A. A grand whooping total of five stories!
Can you tell us about your other stories, any two other stories that you are working on?
A. There's Take Off , which is my first attempt at a romance. It's the story of a girl named Jasmine that wants to help herself, along with her mother that is suffering from a death. There's also this guy names Turner who she doesn't know if she can trust. Another one is A Way to York , a piece of fiction based off the "A Study in Femininity" challenge. A twenty-something year old, named York, trying to navigate the world and maybe save it, too. It's a sci-fi spin on chick-lit, that hopefully turns out well. Fingers crossed.
Do you offer critiques to other users? If you have offered a critique, mention that story?
A. I do not critique, but I do read a lot of book reviews. It's what I do in my spare time, so I think I'm a decent critiquer maybe?
Do you write for yourself or for the readers?
A. I want to say that I write for myself, but I write for the readers to help me. Their insight is as important as editing itself.
Describe yourself in ten words.
A. Stubborn, odd, introverted, bibliophile, science-orientated (does that count?), musical, curious, squinty, short, and defiant.
