Daemon stood there waiting for a reply or any reaction from his blood brother. With eyes wide open and lips parted slightly, the countenance of Darcus suggested that he seemed rather shocked by this sudden revelation. As the seconds ticked by, Daemon noticed his brother's eyes begin to soften and his expression transform into a look filled with sympathy.

With his hands extending outwards, Darcus took a step forward and before Daemon could even process what was happening, he was enveloped into a tight and warm embrace by his brother. For the first time since his birth, he realised the true feeling of being part of a family. A myriad of emotions rushed through him as Darcus whispered the words he had been eager to hear ever since his conception.

"Brother..."

Just one word dissolved all of Daemon's anger and pain from his past. He would have never fathomed that today would be the day his world would finally be filled with joy and light. As he hugged his brother tighter, Daemon could feel the darkness escaping his soul, his head lighter from the destructive thoughts that had been brewing inside of him for so many years and finally his heart which beat to the vibrations of love and positivity that were beginning to surround him.

The brothers finally withdrew from their gesture of affection when Darcus suddenly turns his back towards Daemon.

"Brother..."  he utters "I don't know how to face you. In my selfishness I had forgotten that when I lost my mother...you also lost yours." With a heavy sigh, he continues " Being your elder brother, I was supposed to be your protector, your best friend and instead I ended up..." he drops down on the knees and buries his face in his hands.

"Brother!" Without a second thought, Daemon hastens towards him. He holds his brother's face in his hands and lifts it upwards only to reveal two drops of tears slowly making their way out of the corner of his eyes.

A tinge of pain shot through his heart.

"Please brother, I have nothing against you!" Daemon wipes the tears from Darcus' face.

"No Daemon, how can you forgive me so easily? You don't deserve such a horrible brother like me!" he bawls and bows his head in shame.

"Please don't say that!" Daemon responds as he clasps his brother by the palms. "I admit it was not easy to forgive you," he  whispers. "But someone very special to me helped me to do so."

"Who?" Darcus questions with an air of curiosity.

"Scarlett," Daemon reveals without the slightest hesitation. He offers a helping hand towards Darcus and they both stand up facing each other with a renewed bond this time. "She taught me to find peace in love and forgiveness."

With a pleasant smile, Darcus comments " I am grateful she came in your life."

Daemon reciprocates his gesture and smiles back,"so am I."

And suddenly they both come to the realisation that she had already left. A look of worry crosses Daemon's face as he recalls their last conversation. " She must be so hurt after what I said. I must go and find her." Daemon motions towards the door when Darcus prompltly grabs his arms to stop him.

"I don't think she would be in the position to hear what you have to say and might think of it as sympathy. You are going to profess your love to her Daemon for god's sake! You stay here and do something special. I will go find her."

A look of sorrow dawns upon Daemon's face. Darcus rests his hands on his brother's shoulder. " Brother, I promise I will bring her here and fix everything. You will have the love you deserve," he reassures.

"I trust you," Daemon responds. He was ready to give his brother another chance.
