I never got to know you.
I was never graced
with that chance.
My life had yet to begin
when yours had just ended.
At first
I couldn't cry.
I was too young to understand.
It wasn't until years later
that the tears came.
They said it was because
I missed you, and I knew
that was true.
But it didn't seem like that
was all.
I realized
not only was it you I missed.
I missed
not having the opportunity to find out
what a great sister you were.
So once in awhile
when I start to miss you
I turn to the one thing I couldn't
bring myself to do at first...
I cry.
