Chapter 16 - Goodbye old friend

"It's ours" Elijah comes over after his phone call. I squeal and jump into his arms and he spins me around before planting multiple kisses over my face making my giggle.
"How soon can we move in?" I ask
"One month" he says
"We can wait that long" I say and kiss him passionately on the lips.
"You should tell Tommy" Elijah says
"I will. I have to tell nick as well. I'll be moving further away from him" I say and Elijah avoids eye contact with me.
"What's wrong?" I ask him and he moves his head away. I place my fingers against his chin and move his face to look at me. I saw a glimpse of anger in his eyes
"Are you jealous?" I ask raising my eyebrow
"You did sleep with the guy and you are still friends" he says in his defence and I giggle. "Don't laugh at me" He says
"Elijah I'm not in love with him, not in the way I love you anyway" I reassure him.
"You love me?" He jokes raising his eye brow
"Yes" I say and I look down at my hands that were fiddling with the bottom of my jumper. Elijah then uses his finger to lift my head up to look at him. He leans forward and I feel his lips connect with mine.
"I love you too" Elijah says into my lips. His tongue rolls over my bottom lip and my immediate reaction was to open my mouth. When I don't Elijah grumbles and I giggle.
"We have to go see Nick" I tell him and I get into the car. I direct Elijah to Nick scrap yard and we sit in comfortable silence all the way there.
"Nicky you here?" I shout heading inside "Nicky?" I say confused. I head toward his office, his office door was wide open and all I saw was Nicky lying behind his desk on the floor.
"Nick" I scream and I run towards him but Elijah grabs me and pulls me against him. Elijah went in first and checks the room. When he sees that it was clear he lets me go and I run to Nicky.
"Nicky can you hear me" I say placing two fingers against his neck "Elijah he has a pulse call an ambulance" I tell him and he takes out his phone.
"Jade?" Nicky coughs
"Yeah it's me I'm here" I say and he grabs my hand
"You need to go." He says
"I'm not leaving you" I tell him
"No I mean you need to leave town. He's hear and he's making his move" nick says
"Lewis?" I say confused and Nicky nods his head "he done this to you?" I ask
"Yes" nick says.
"I'm going to kill him" I say
"You know you won't" he smiles "the guy" nick nods his head towards Elijah and I turn to look at him. He was on the phone.
"Body guard" I turn back to nick and say
"I saw the way he looked at you. He's a keeper" nick smiles and I smile back and shake my head.
"You're not dying so stop speaking as though you are" I say. Nicky had been shot twice in the stomach.
"Come closer" he says and I lean down so he could whisper in my ear. "0405 code to the safe. I'm so glad we had a chance to get close" he whispers and A fear tear drops roll down my cheek.
"0405 my birthday" I smirk at him
"I shouldn't have let them take you" he says
"You didn't have much choice" I tell him. He raises his hand and strokes my cheek with his thumb.
"Ambulance is on the way" Elijah comes over and says.
"You" nick says eyeing Elijah
"Yeah?" Elijah says kneeling down.
"You look after her. She's a tough one don't ever underestimate her. If you hurt her I'll haunt your ass." Nick says.
"Nick don't say that" I say
"I love you jade. Look after your man over there. From what I can tell you have both done well" he says coughing.
"Elijah wait outside" I tell him
"But" He begins to speak
"Go!" I scream and he leaves. I look down at Nick who was smiling up at me. I turn around to see Elijah watching me carefully. I lean down and whisper something in Nick's ear keeping eye contact with Elijah
"I'll be watching over you" he says
"Not too closely I hope" I say making him laugh.
"Don't let that bastard win" nick says
"I won't Nicky I won't" I say more tears rolling down my cheek. His body went limp and I just let the tears pour. I close his open eyelids and leave the room. My hands were covered in blood. I run past Elijah and into the bathroom. I start scrubbing the blood off my hands.
"Jade?" Elijah says softly and coming into the bathroom.
"He's dead Elijah. He's dead because of Me" I say turning to look at him.
"It's not your fault jade. Don't you dare blame yourself. Blame the bastard that killed him" Elijah says holding my face in his hand.
"Lewis killed him." I say anger bubbling up inside me.
"Stay calm. We have an ambulance on its way. You have to stay calm" Elijah tells me making me focus on him.
"I'm calm come on" I say and we head back out and wait for the ambulance. When they arrive I explain to them and the police what happened. Next I ring dad, even though they weren't friends anymore doesn't mean he won't be upset that his ex best friend is dead. Once the police cleared the scene I went into Nicks place to look around.
"He lives here?" Elijah asks seeing the blanket laying across the small sofa in his office.
"Yeah" I say looking through the draws of his desk.
"Have the police cleared out yet?" I ask
"Yeah" Elijah says
"Good" I say and I go into the bathroom and rip the mirror off the wall to reveal a safe behind it.
