I pulled up into the parking lot, not a lot of cars were here; I hoped I could get the information I needed, and fast… I didn’t know what Alexis or anyone else is doing, but knowing her… probably raging and looking high and low for me. I sighed and got out, I slid my purse to my elbow again and walked inside. Only a few bartenders and two or three men occupied the club, a band was setting up; probably for their performance tonight, I sighed then looked around the club. I closed my eyes then pictured me, Alexis, and the two boys here Friday night. I opened my eyes then walked to what I was fairly sure was our table at the beginning of the night, I sighed then jumped when a bartender called to me. “You need some help sweetheart?” I whirled around, a bartender about a foot or two taller than my 5’4 frame was the one who had called me. I walked over and splayed my hands on the bar.

“I need your help but don’t ever call me sweetheart again.” I threatened, the young bartender smiled as he polished glasses.

“Sure thing, but it would help if I knew your name.” He looked up at me with brown eyes, I looked around; feeling as if someone was watching us.

“Bella, my name is Bella.” I murmured, he nodded and threw his rag onto his shoulder then looked at me.

“The name’s Brent… ‘Course you already know that.”

          “So you saw me before.”

“Sure did, Friday night. You came in with three people, a girl and two guys. You left with one guy.”

I dug my phone out of my purse once again then went to my pictures, I pulled a picture up of Alexis and Justin kissing Lexy had sent to me; it was their first kiss as a couple, I showed the picture to Brent. “Were these two with me?” I asked, he glanced at the screen then bobbed his head.

“Yup.” I slide to the next picture which was Lane I hadn’t deleted yet, but Brent’s next words froze me in place. “And that’s the guy you left with.” I looked up at him and swallowed hard.

          “W-what?”

“He’s the one who came and carried you out, you were sooo shit faced.” I could barely murmur the “thank you” to him before making a break for the bathroom; I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand then just sat on the cold floor. I left with Lane, my boyfriend turned stalker; the thought made me sick. If Lexy knew what I did… she would rampage. A thought occurred to me then, what if Lexy does know? What will she think of me? She has to know I didn’t go with him willingly, I was hammered for Christ sakes! I didn’t know what was happening, I don’t even remember talking to Brent. I sighed then stood on my now wobbly legs, I stumbled to the sink to wash out the vomit taste on my mouth. I looked in the mirror and sighed, I looked as Lexy would say “so damn ratchet”. I dug in my purse before popping an icebreakers mint in my mouth, a vibrating sensation made me reach into my purse and draw out my phone; I sighed when I saw it was Taylor calling, I dropped it back in my bag then walked out of the club. I climbed into Cindy and just sat there, I sighed and thumped my head on the steering wheel; then I felt a tear slip from my eye and descend down my cheek. I pursed my lips as I began to quietly cry, everything in my life was a mess and I didn’t know how to fix it… or if I could fix it at all.

There was a sudden tap on my window, I jumped in my seat then turned to find Brent staring down at me; I sighed and looked forward, not attempting to roll down my window. “Come on Bella, I want to help.” He said, his voice muffled by the window; I sighed and still made no attempt to move. “We can shout our conversation through the window if you want, or you could let me help you and we can get this mess sorted out faster.” He compromised, I sighed then unlocked the doors and rolled down the window.

“Get in.” I said meekly, he hurried around the car and slid in the passenger’s side; I pulled out of the parking spaced and pulled onto the road.

“Where are we going?” Brent asked, I stopped at a red light then looked at him as I pulled out a packet of cigarettes and slid on between my lips; I lit it the same time the light turned green, I took a long drag then turned a corner.

“Starbucks, I need caffeine.”
