High School:
I want to go back in time
To the days where we were happy
Filled with joy, without a care
To coloring and fighting over line cutting
Now we're in the shark's mouth
Trying desperately to get out
Working as hard as we can
So we can eventually reach the real world
But do we really want to see
For there's darkness outside, and no
Artificial light to help us
We have to feel our way through
Will we ever discover
The lives we want to lead
Or will we be stuck in a loop
Working towards something we'll never reach
Growing older by the day
We can't stop it
Our lives are changing by the minute
Is this really what we want?
Are we just living what we've been told?
Can we break free of the people
Holding us in this cycle
Or are we forever doomed
And yet, something tells me
This is just the way the world works
Someday we will preach what we are living now
Though today it seems unnecessary
Today it is a burden on our lives
A work that seems it will never end
It's scary to change
Even scarier to move on
Can we reach the stars?
Or will we grow up into nothingness
Disappoint those we love
Hurt ourselves and our ambitions
Will we fail?
Is it better to not try at all?
But then, isn't it better to try and fail
then to never try at all?
Someday we will be in the real world
And that day we will ask what was our fear
But today is not that day
Today we still wonder whether we can survive High School
