Two years had passed since the incident of that night.
Sitting on a log of wood outside I closed my eyes as the wind blew my hair from side to side.
Enjoying the silent moment while it could last
"Hmmm"
I opened my eyes to the throaty sound beside me.
Allen with his eyes closed sat beside me smiling.
"Stop looking Jessi" he said peaking at me from under one of his eyelashes slightly opened.
"Did you hear?"
"Hear what?" I answered too quickly
"Oh. Nothing"
"Allen!"
"I can't tell you" he replied.
Confused I shifted restlessly "why?"
"Just because. am sorry"
Feeling betrayed I left Allen there and then went inside the house.
Tonight was June 2,My birthday.
Tonight I will be 13With that in mind I mindlessly walked into my room where I took out the tiny box.
Smiling I brought out the sparkling ring in it.
Beautiful I thought as slide my finger in it.
Sighing I closed the box and laid on the bed, starring at the ring on my finger as I thought back to the conversation I had with Allen.
And to think we were close! sigh..
It was no use trying to get him to tell me.Oh why did he have to say that, now am curious as can be.
Maybe if I threatened not to invite him to my birthday party he would tell me, or if I took his pet rabbit and threaten to drown it in the lake he would open up.
Allen loved parties and his pet rabbit. Especially his pet rabbit.
Jumping out of the bed with a smiling face, I rushed outside to Allen, only it wasn't Allen I saw but, three men with their backs to me.
They were all dressed in riders suit and heavily armed.
One among them held an horse whip on one hand and a sword on the other.
Seeing as they were mindlessly drinking water from their carved water bottles, they haven't spotted me yet.
Fearfully taking a small step back, I cried out as my ankle twisted on a rock, drawing the attention of the soldiers.
Drawing their swords they all turned in my direction, their stance ready for blood shed.
"It's a little girl" one of the soldiers said.
My eyes widened as the one with the whip stalked closer to me.
"Little girl.. are you alone" he asked with his eyes scanning the area.
Nodding fearfully and obediently I shuddered as his fingers clapsed my arms pulling me upright.
"Do you live here?"
I gave a small nod.
He looked at me, his green eyes scanning my body. Then his brows furrowed. "Is that yours?" He asked looking at the ring on my finger.
In my hurry I had forgotten to remove it.
"Yes"
Nodding his head he said "Beautiful" then turned to the others who were looking strangely at me.
