I've lived in small towns. Everyone knew everyone.
There were no secrets.
No gossip unheard.

But now? Now it's different.

City life has walked right into my life.

My dad got a new job as a businessman in this "big shot" company. "An opportunity of a lifetime" He said.

I should be proud of him I know and I am, but moving across the ocean because of it is too much.

The plane ride from California to Britain was so long.

We waited until they boarded, eating Wendy's and drinking Starbucks. As soon as they called our section, my dad, older brother, younger brother and I grabbed our things and headed for the gate.

We found our seats and sat down. My family was together and I was across from them next to another teen and who I assumed was her mother.

I plugged in my earbuds to my phone and put one in my ear. I played the first song on the album I saw on my phone.

Something to lighten my day up.

And the next 11 hours and 25 minutes of life were about to be wasted.
