Elanor woke up off of the cave floor, staggering. She looked up expecting the warmth of the daylight, but she has forgotten that the other night, Mentis and his kind invited her to stay for their protection. As she gets up uneasily and lets out a faint yawn, she looks back into the cave to see no glowing eyes. Nobody was there, not so much as a feather was still lingering. She then leaves the cave and looks up. The moon was set in its place in the sky and the sun was gone for the night. Not knowing where she was and wanting to return home to her borough, she decided to head west ward, hoping to find her home by the tree, or at least hit the river so she could drink. Elanor dashed a couple small rodents of all sorts and soon, on the way, her hunger had ceased. She moved along, going straight ahead of her. Then, what seemed to come out of the darkness, a big shadow hovered over her. She jumped in fear and looked up. It was Mentis, flying in a circle or two and then landing at her side. "You're finally awake. Good, I was worried you'd never wake up." Elanor looked at him in a miserable way, then continued to walk. "Whats the matter, Vulpes?" Mentis asked, hopping after her. Elanor stopped walking and looked back at him. "I lost my home. Once again I'm homeless." she said with a whimper. Mentis looked at her pained look, then got an idea. "Well" he said confidently "Let's find the wolves!" Elanor looked at him with the most confused look. "Listen" Mentis explained "We were chased off corse of your home from the wolves, so, all we have to do is find them again, and retrace our steps." "You want us to find them again?!" Elanor yelled, thinking the owl has gone insane. "Well, in case you haven't noticed, they would have killed us if we were caught, and if we go back we are going to die, Mentis!" "Not if we find him." Elanor then remebered the wolf who she bit the other night. She stared off into the distance of trees and flowing grass. "Cor" she said. She said it as if saying that named calmed her in some awkward way. Maybe because in such a long while, she finally met someone who wasn't a bird or a rodent that was friendly, or maybe it's because he may be her only way home . Mentis then smiled and started flying high. "Follow my shadow!" he yells down to her "If anyone knows that tree its me!"

"How can you be so sure you know the tree?!"

"Because I was born there! I'll tell you the details in the near future, but for now, just follow!"

Elanor nodded to him and the two were off on there way, heading north. Suddenly, after a quick run, Mentis eyes widened and he swooped down to Elanor, knocking her over to a tree with his head. As she was about to get up and scold him, she slowly crouched low to the ground. She hears growling and then sees two wolves walk up to Mentis. "Finally we find something to eat" one says to the other. "I am nothing to eat! I am a dignified-" suddenly a loud howl came from the middle of nowhere. Elanor felt a slight relif to see Cor walk over to the other wolves. She then moved slowly sideways and stepped loudly on a branch. "What was that?" one of the wolves said, slowly moving to Elanor. "It was nothing" Cor said in a harsh tone. "Now, you both had your kills the other night, this one is all mine." Mentis's heart suddenly dropped. Cor's expression was dark and careless, not the same as the saw him the night before. Cor picked the owl down by his teeth and threw him against a tree, the tree Elanor behind, hiding in some tall grass. "Yeah! Eat him!" A wolf cheered. Cor looked back at them and then at Mentis. He then bent his head down for a moment and opened his jaws, snapping down. The wolves behind him then let out a short howl, as Cor snapped and bit. Elanor rose a little to see what was going on, and shivered. Mentis wasn't moving and Cor's mouth was driping a crimson color. As far as Elanor saw, Mentis saved her life, and Cor is a monster.

Elanor then started to shake more, and even began to growl quietly. While hiding, she was hit with waves of sorrow and anger all at once. Enough to make her risk dying to soothe the pain of her friend being eaten. Chew afer chew, the wolves behind Cor let out a final howl and then walked away. It was nothing but Elanor and Cor now, and she felt so ready to attack, so ready for revenge. Despite her size or strength, Elanor was always a fighter, and right now, she had the rage of a killer.
