“He was in this school before abi?” Rose asked Melanie as she took a chip from Simi’s plate.
“Yeah he is, he’s been there for like five years. The last time I saw him was in jss1.”“You guys gossip too much.” Simi said obviously irritated at the conversation.
“Gossip ke? We are just trying to stay informed babe, before he will come and kill us and you will say we are gossiping abeg.” Tobi answered squeezing her face.“Mstw, leave her na, be there acting holy oh, like you don’t use to gossip too.” Rose said
Simi hissed and rolled her eyes and stood up “I am going to go and buy gala, since aunty wants to eat all my food today.”As Simi walked out of the class she thought back to the last time that she saw Dayo, he and her had been as tight as anything in junior school, but suddenly he became dark and brooding and stopped talking to her. They were in the same church so their parents were also friends and they talked about it, but all Simi knew was that Dayo wasn’t the same Dayo.
As she bought the gala and was going to class she saw him by the tree. She squeezed her face as she saw that Chisom Okafor was talking to him, she smiled and batted her eyelashes as if she used charm on him. Dayo looked extremely uncomfortable, nodding his head slightly and finding the ground more interesting to look at.
Simi sighed and decided to help an old friend out. “Dayo?” She called. He looked up and she saw his eyes nearly pop out of his head. “Sim Sim?” He asked in shock as he walked right pass Chisom to her and stared again. “Excuse me aunty Simi, I was talking to him.” “Yes, but “him” wasn’t talking to you.” Dayo answered her.
“EWO!” Simi said and started laughing. Chisom looked like they just poured her water, she turned angrily with her mouth folded into a scowl and walked away.
“Bros, you have bought market oh.” Simi said and she pulled him in for a hug. “Guy, you’ve not grown oh… I can still see the middle of your head” Dayo said obnoxiously as Simi punched his arm. “Go joor,” She pushed him away and started walking to class. “You that you left, just like that. Fell off the face of Abuja, you’re now talking.” Dayo paused and stared at the floor again. “Kini” Simi asked also stopping. He looked serious and Simi wondered if she had said anything to offend him. “Dayo what is it?” He looked up into her eyes, “I was in prison”
