On the Queen's Land: Part 1: Differences

We arrived...

Stepping off the plane in Britain is different than stepping off the plane in California.

There's no gate.
No walkway.

You just get off the plane down some stairs on the side and go through glass doors into a small room, which I'm guessing is what they called a gate.

Besides that the airport looked similar, not including some foreign stores I didn't know, but there was Starbucks, so I guess Britain isn't all that bad.

We went down to the baggage claim and got our bags.

Apparently, someone from Dad's new job is going to pick us up. We walked to the pickup section and saw a woman holding a sign that had Dad's name on it.

We walked up to her and Dad greeted her.

"Hello! Thank you so much for picking us up and taking us to our new home."

"Oh, no problem. I heard that your cars won't get here till tomorrow right?" She said smiling brightly.

"Yes, anyways thank you again for the ride."

We walked to her very bright black truck. It was well taken care of, so I knew we could trust her driving, unlike my brother.

As we got in the car, my brother started talking to the lady. After she said her name,(Clara), I got bored with the rest of the conversation. I plugged in my earbuds and got lost in the music. Next thing I know, my brother is tapping my shoulder like some crazy maniac.

"What do you want?" I asked. Eyes still closed, half dead.

"We're here. So get your ass off the seat so we can check out the house." He rolled his eyes. He does it so much, that I hope one day they'll fall out.

A girl can only dream.

I grabbed my bag and closed the car door. My brother, (did I not mention his name? Sorry.), Chandler, was running up to the basketball hoop that hung from a wall outside the house. "Idiot," I say. I wonder how he wasn't raised by wolves. Anyway, as I explored the house, I came across a turquoise room.

Curious, I walked inside. Apparently, most of our stuff was already here. I guess dad picked this room for me since it was painted my favorite color. There was a Queen sized bed next to the window, which was also a bench. The bed sheets were a picture of the ocean and the pillows were dark blue and white.

I placed my suite case next to the bed and laid down. Tomorrow is my first day at Evergreen High School. I put my phone up to my face and look up the school.

On Google, it shows a picture. "Well, I guess it doesn't look that bad. At least it doesn't look like a prison." I laugh at my own small comment and put my phone down.

Well onto unpacking.

After unpacking all of my clothes and other stuff in my closet and dresser, I decided I needed some fresh air.

"Dad, my bike's coming later right?" I asked my dad from the stairs.

"Yeah, why?" He replies while counting all the keys.

"Nothing. I'm going to go on a walk ok?"

"Yeah sure. Just, here, have a key so you won't get locked out."

"Thanks." And with that, I walked outside, locked the door, and went on my walk.

The scenery was pretty. I looked at my phone and realized there was a park near here. Well onward to the park.

I got to the park in 5 minutes time. It was pretty big with a playground and swing set. It had paths that led somewhere else and benches along the sides.
